Hope BF is taking notes tonight.

Sitting here watching the Patriots passing game and hoping BF is at least taking notes or plugged in with the Pats staff enough to study these route trees and how they would work at Iowa? Lots of crossing and misdirection passing routes. One can only hope.

I couldn't see any difference between our offense and what New England was running tonight. Its just a matter of having the best personnel and executing the gameplan.

The Pats have one of the most complicated offenses in the NFL, IMO. In fairness, New England and GD spends lots of time with short passes. NE is better in YAK, though. Don't think KF will allow that to happen.

You are kidding, Greg Davis hardly every used quick slants and crossing routes in his 5 years. Most of GDavis' routes were thrown to the outside penning the receiver up against the boundary. He used the middle of the field and medium and deep depth a very low percent of the time.

I think GDavis''s option routes were just too difficult for most Iowa receivers to work out correctly.

Unless he's taking notes....standing up...with a small notepad....on his knee...it's irrelevant. That is the ONLY way we take note here, young man.

Yes they do. It looks simple like a bunch of small quick guys running slants but then why doesn't everyone do it? It's a complex offense run by one of the best QBs ever that is so precise they find small gaps in zones again and again and again.

Had the same thought-great minds think alike. KF and BB have ties and Brian was a coach there so why doesn't some of that offensive brilliance rub off on our offense? SMH.

Just watched the replays of the Miami of Ohio and Iowa State games. Beathard and Vandeberg were executing back shoulder throws, throws into tight coverage, slants, etc. etc.

It's pretty simple: We need more receivers like Vandeberg

Why don't we wait and see what BF does to improve our O. It can't get much worse, but could get a lot better. So many on here have him failing before he starts.

Based on what? Just curious, and what team has the most simple offense in the NFL?

Actually there are several teams that have a very simple offense and some that are very complicated. By complicated, I mean precision routes that are adjusted to a defense. The Falcons have one of the most complicated offenses. They change almost week to week. The Pats also change, but maybe not as much. It is based on timing and precision.

Simple ones? 49ers wtih Kap is one that comes to mind. Seattle is another. The one that really sticks out is the offense of the Packers. They have been running the same routes for as long as MM has been coach. The do the same thing over and over again. What is different is they have a QB that can either make the throws or makes things up as he goes. It is not complicated at all.

What made Iowa work in 2015 was CJ being a lot like AR. It worked until they went against fast defenses. For what ever reason he did not make the throws or couldn't (by design or injury). Teams also caught on.

As I said, I would be fine with BF as OC is Bilichek was coach. Bill is a master of scratching where it itches. KF will also ignore the itch.

Me as well. The common denominator for the Pats is they always have that specialized quick receiver such as Welker, Edleman and now that Hogan. They obviously find a receiver to fill that position/role on their team as it's always the same style of player.

Also, run 1 flea flicker every single game. It's a pretty "safe" trick play. I don't know if I'd even call it a trick play. But, if ran more consistently, teams would have to be aware that it would be coming and have to prepare for it. It would help keep the d-backs just that much more honest and maybe help them from cheating up on the majority of the plays.

Could you imagine preparing and going up against a team that you know will run a FF sometime during the game?

Heck I was hoping they were watching the Falcons too, they even used their fullback numerous times which KF would love!

The Falcons have a very balanced team and balanced offensive attack. I told people they were going to beat the Packers and I think they have enough D to be a legit SB winner. They are no fluke. They have the pieces in place on this years team.

Don't think the offense is really that complicated. What I believe they do exceptionally and better than almost any team in the NFL is they create mismatches and will constantly pick on those mismatches and they do it with all of their receivers, TEs, and backs with various formations. The other thing and I cannot remember what play it was exactly but Brady changed the play at the line of scrimmage to take advantage of what the defense was giving them and they had a huge gain. They are Elite in the sense that you can rarely trick or disguise coverages and blitzes from Brady and he is able to communicate with the receivers so they are all on the same page. Don't know if that is a realistic expectation with college athletes due to the time and inexperience.

The other thing that sets them apart especially with the personnel that they have it they ALL run exceptional routes. Which is where our biggest area of growth could occur

It is unfair to compare or try to emulate New England with Brady. He could quite possibly be the best QB that has or will ever have lived in our lifetime.
