I really don't think it's really the kid decommiting as much as it is people just sick of KF. This kid decommiting is just the straw that broke the camels back. I think people just want the team to be exciting and fun to watch.

That is my point. People can't separate the two, and it shows a lack of logical thinking skills. This carries over to the whole "apologist" thing as well. If you are NOT over the top hating on EVERYTHING you somehow love KF more than Iowa, are ok with losing, and on and on and on????

All of this talk about Eno...get over it honestly. This guy is a great high school athlete and may be a good college player, but this isn't the end of the world. He obviously had not committed to Iowa at the level he suggested and led everyone to believe. When Iowa commits to you and you commit to us, that's it...you know that when you make your commitment. He apparently felt that Iowa was not the place for him. Do you really want someone like that on your team? Instead of focusing on this kid, why can't we focus on the good, loyal and honorable kids that have kept, and will keep, their commitment to OUR team? Lets put our energy into them.

I've posted on this site numerous times so you all know that I am as critical, if not more so (I'd like to see him gone) on KirFer than anybody. But in this instance, I don't think the policy/rule/law is the problem. Look at the loyal young men we had sign last year and will sign this year -- they are proof that this can work.

Lastly, I am getting real tired of Jon and his sanctimonious articles/tweets/podcasts. For someone to criticize fans for being passionate about their team, to call them losers -- the same fans that help to keep this site from completely going into the crapper more than it has over the past two years, is completely out of bounds. I don't care that he has divorced himself from Iowa football and that he is above the fray now. To call out fans for being passionate...on a fan board...are you kidding me? Yes, fans shouldn't be tweeting at recruits (that too is out of bounds), but to call them losers because they are excited/disappointed says more about you than it does them. These folks work their asses off 40 a week and all they want is to see their team put forth an exciting effort on game day. I don't blame them for being upset at the product on the field and looking for the positives in the next recruiting classes. Disappointing HN.com.

My expectation is I will receive the ban hammer, so if that happens -- I get banned for speaking my mind on a fan board...it's been real y'all.

Could not agree with you more! It is possible to be a passionate fan and not be a jackass. Just because Jon was a douche bag (by his own admission) two years ago and has since grown a conscience doesn't mean it's an either or situation.

As far as this recruiting policy goes, Deace nailed in the podcast. If you want to be an every now and then fringe top 10 team, keep this archaic "gentlemen's agreement policy" that left the B1G in the 80's.

I think this says it all. IMO the problem is that KF is synonymous with boring football. While we may be stuck this style of football I'm not convinced it has to be boring. I think this is why that the recruiting situation is that "straw that broke the camels back". While we may "be stuck" with KF we had a great opportunity to up the stock in our recruiting class. While it may only be a RB and CB that decommitted the problem is that it could have sparked a trend. We need a strong class as it had the potential to bring in athletes that typically wouldn't commit to Iowa on a yearly basis. While the staff and philosophies may not change the level of athleticism could.

IMO that's why there is such fallout. I truly believe that with an overall incline in athleticism and depth this type of football can sustain success. The only way to do that is through recruiting and doing whatever can be done to get these athletes in black and gold come signing day.

What we've learned up to this point with this staff is that the level of recruiting and the style of play/philosophies have consistently shown that there is no consistency in results. And unfortunately that recruiting success may not pan out based on what we are currently seeing.

Yes, but the decommit shines a light directly on the thing that we're most tired of... KFz's stubborness. It costs us on the field and in recruiting. This week, we got to see both within a few days of each other.

We interrupt this thread for the following emergency post. KF will be the Iowa coach for the next 9 years. This is not a nuclear meltdown. Iowa football will not collapse, nor will it win a national or Big 10 Championship during this time. Iowa may not even finish at the top of the Big Ten West in any of the next 9 years. The referees in conjunction with OSU and Michigan Universities under the direction of the Big Ten office will see to that as well as harm that KF will do to the program himself. He is also not so lazy that Iowa will go 0 - 11 thx to the slated non conference schedule. You may now return to what ever you were doing. Good day!

KF is stubborn, but this is about a kid who the staff felt they couldn't trust. I'm not gonna say he lied to them, I don't know that for 100% certain. What I do know is Eno was less than honest with them, so much so that they decided it was better for them to seek out other recruits than rely on him being there come signing day. They didn't just cut him out because he visiting another school.

I personally like the policy of putting pressure on recruits to not take visits. As I keep saying if Stanley, Lattimore, Toks, or Fant take visits last year it because 10x harder for Iowa to hold onto them. Why start a competition when you have already "supposedly" won the recruit, instead keep them from taking the visit in the first place.

He didn't tell the staff he was gonna take a visit and he also told the staff he never took a visit when the staff found out and asked him about it. He wasn't dropped simply because he took a visit.

I'm not sure how what the staff does is hypocritical? Do they ask other schools to not to try to flip our verbal commits? If so, I have never heard that. I'm pretty sure they are aware that other schools are talking, texting, and trying to flip Iowa Verbals.

People are confused, if KF was a hypocrite he would be bringing in other RB recruits on official visits after he told Eno he was committed to him and for him to not take visits. That is what they ask of each other, Iowa to not bring in another RB, and Eno to not visit other schools, they are "verbally committed".

Now I'm not stupid, and neither is the staff. Other schools are going to keep coming after kids, and as we have seen in the past Iowa won't just cut bait if they visit elsewhere. What they do it try to do everything in their power to stop the visits, because official visit are very persuading. I'm not sure why people are killing this staff for doing everything they can to keep the verbal recruits that they have.

This has been the perfect storm for getting sick of Kirk Ferentz.

1. Returned several key players from a 12-2 season.
2. Signed a one-sided contract after the first great season he's had in 6 years.
3. Promptly lost to an FCS team.
4. Responded to earlier loss with lackluster effort against horrible Power 5 team
5. Lost at home to hated rival and looked bad on offense doing it.
6. Lost a great recruit who seemed to be recruiting for Iowa.

It was something along the lines of; He's a running back. Those are a dime a dozen. If he was a Defensive End or a Nose Tackle, then get upset. But there are tons of running backs out there.

He's right. Remember folks, Wadley was a 2 star, and look how he turned out. We'll be Ok.

Yup. We all know the best way to get kids to listen is tell them what they can't do. It's like that story about Romeo and Juliet where their parents kept them apart and they went on to lead productive separate lives
