HN Prospect Pod: Iowa a Special Place for Texas QB Deuce Hogan

Super impressed w/ this kid’s maturity and ability to articulate his answers to all Rob’s questions. I live in flower mound Texas which is right next to Grapevine. Grapevine Faith Christian is a short 15 minute drive from my house. Been wanting to go watch Deuce play for some time now so my wife and I are going to go watch him play this Friday. Matt Hankins is from our town of flower mound and we went and cheered him on as well a couple years back. HS football in Texas is crazy.

Enjoyed the pod rob. Strong work and I look forward to more of this type. The older I get the more I appreciate high character mature recruits. Maybe he isn’t 5* but he has a high ceiling and when you are willing to put in the work, the stars will come later.
 
I'm liking him already. Definitely got his priorities straight! Love the character of the players the Hawkeyes recruit. Seems like all of them are humble and team first types when you hear them being interviewed.
 
@RobHowe That’s some nice interviewing of a kid. The interview allowed listeners to get a very broad understanding of a young man. I’d say Deuce is a heck of a lot more confident in his skin than I was at his age.
 
As active as this kid is on social media and with how much he seems to enjoy media/interviews in general, he's gonna have a heck of a shock when he goes on 4 years of Twitter blackout and a whole freshman year of no media contact. :)
 
Awesome Podcast Rob. Really looking forward to the future of this series. As a lifetime IC native, it's always awesome to hear how people view the city, the people and the program and ultimately why they made the decision to come here. As an agnostic, he has a really interesting perspective about faith - it's hard to disagree with. Seems like a great kid with a great background. Can't wait to see what he can do in a Hawkeye uniform. Hope he can be as successful as the last quarterback from Texas whose dad was his head coach.

Damn, led his team to a state title as a freshman QB?

See to it that the Hawkeye pipeline in your backyard keeps churning out Hawkeyes.
 
So watched and met Duece as well as his parents at his game Friday night. If deuce can grasp the offense quickly next year he’ll definitely b in the mix for the starting job imo. He’s a legit 6’-4” and solid 205 lbs. Reminds me of an unpolished Stanley w/ slightly more athleticism. He’s very accurate on the intermediate routes. Stood well in the pocket and even tucked and ran it on multiple occasions. His receivers dropped multiple balls that hit them right in the hands (probably at least 4 in the first half). He needs a little better placement and touch on his long ball but this will come w/ more reps. Really excited to see deuce in a Hawkeye uniform next year. I tried to upload a couple videos but it didn’t work.
