HN.com Iowa v Pitt Prediction

i sure hope we can get our act together. got to get some push up front, will be interesting to see if Norm will get Kirk's blessing to mix it up a bit.

I think 27 is too generous to Pitt. Iowa was one play away from giving up 17 points on the road a week ago. We will play much better at home on offense and defense. I don't think Pitt will score more than 20, and we should score in the 30's.

I just don't see Iowa putting up 37 points in regulation on any BCS conference team.

I agree this is a must win game. Hopefully Kirk/KOK mix things up on offense.

People have this impression that Pitt has a great offense because of their coach. He had a great system in Tulsa, but they do not have the players yet to fit the system. I watched their last game against Maine and Sunseri does not have good command of their offense. He is indecisive and not particularly fleet of foot. Pitt gave up 7 sacks to Maine and on one of them Sunseri simply ran out of bounds for a 2 yard loss, just a play that showed his lack of decision making ability. Graham is a very good RB that will give us some trouble, but we should be able to get some turnovers and keep their passing game in check.

Defensively Pitt has given up a lot of yards passing, they played very uninspired against Maine. Not a lot of gang tackling or hustle. While I expect that to be better for them this week, I know that the talent they face this week in Iowa will be about 10 steps up from what they saw in weeks 1 and 2.

Iowa 30
Pitt 14

Iowa State fumbled on our 5 yard line, missed an easy FG and had a guy catch a TD pass in the endzone with no one within 20 yards of him.... only to be called back for holding.

Iowa State was only 3 plays away from scoring an extra 17 points. Slice it how you may.

If Pitt has less than 1 turnover or less I bet they'll approach 500 yards Saturday and over 30 points.

I'm thinking we win 27-14. time to get those bastards back for our loss up there! Pitt loses via 3+ turnovers, while Iowa throws for 200 and runs for 200, with no turnovers. I will not mind a big scoop of vanilla this week, just win baby!

Wow, talk about the sky is falling mentality here. Pitt scored 35 against 2 very poor teams. They totalled 381 yards against Maine's vaunted defense. Their stud RB averaged only 4.3 ypc and their supposedle "mobile" QB had 10 carries for NEGATIVE 69 yards. And he was sacked 7 times.

But I know Maine is a very good team, so lets check how they did against powerhouse Buffalo. 410 yards at home. But yes, I agree they will easily roll 500 on Iowa's D. Yikes.

This is a must win game like Jon said. I have a feeling Iowa is going to come out mad.

I'm a little more optimistic than I was earlier this week. Hopefully the Hawks saw a lot of what they really were against Iowa State and is learning from it.
