With Norm's bend and break defense, Michigan's offense will be on the field about 40 to 45 minutes of the 60. Michigan will continually go 65 to 80 yards, 12 to 15 plays, before scoring about everytime they have the ball. AND most of their plays will be running plays because the Iowa defense cannot penetrate the offensive line nor tackle anyone. The Michigan offensive will push off the line and the running back will be in Iowa's backfield most of the day as Michigan gains almost 375 yards on the garound. While all of this is happening, Iowa changes nothing. In the meantime, Michigan's offense will put up more than 600 yards before Michigan calls off the dogs and plays their third stringers and scrubs by the end of the third quarter. Of course, their second and third stringers will still be able to run the ball at will against our defense. While the scrubs are in Iowa uses its uptempo offense to score three quick TDs...unfortunately, by the time Iowa uses its up tempo offense, the score will be completely out of hand-- Michigan wins 56 -21 or 62-21.
After the game, KF says, "Michigan is an outstanding team," "we are very disappointed," and "that's football." When a media member asks about the identical vanilla defense Iowa has run for the past 11 years and whether he might consider doing something different after giving up 62 points and more than 600 yards, KF testily responds, "We just need to play harder." When Norm is interviewed, he answers that football is football, nothing has changed, you just have to tackle.
