Hines' hit on A-Rob was a cheap shot

Ohio State's Jermale Hines' helmet-to-helmet cheap shot on A-Rob warrants a suspension. Hines launched himself and hit a defenseless A-Rob in the back of the helmet. That play also should have been pass interference, but the hit was absolutely vicious and completely uncalled for. Coach Ferentz should request that the Big 10 Commissioner review that play because the referees missed it.

The most aggravating thing to me after that play, other than no flag, was when the camera showed Kirk on the sideline and he was emotionless. Just stoic and chewing his gum. I figured he would layed into the officials.

Would agree obvious penalty and coach KF just keeps chewing gum lets so some emotion and get fired up please!!!

My bet is KF saves his emotion for the media and this week. About once every 5 years he lays into the media during a presser.

Tressel stormed out on the field after a late hit penalty on McNutt. I think his players appreciate when he has their back. ARob deserves better from this coaching staff. I am extremely disappointed in KFs lack of animation last week and on that play.

KF's emotion on that play should have been directed at KOK and RS. KOK should have taught Ricky by now that you don't throw the middle screen unless there is heat coming from up the middle and the RB is standing there all alone. If there is no heat coming up the middle, you run the risk of getting your RB lit up by a huge inside linebacker.

Yep. The play was there if Rick had just waited another second or so. Robinson had blockers with him and a lot of green in front of him.

But it was a cheap shot, and an obvious PI.

I tend to agree. It's not like we haven't seen Ferentz go ballistic on the refs before. He's done it several times. And that's what's confusing. I've seen him screaming and being animated over a missed holding call. But he's emotionless when one of his players gets nailed(I don't think it was a cheap shot...stuff happens in football. But it was a penalty).

Show some passion.

This wasn't the only play Ricky hung him out to dry this game, either..

I was in the stadium and unable to see a replay. Anyone have a video. On 2 Guys Named Jim, it sounds like A-Rob was feeling the effects well after the game, and this could have lingering effects in regards to his career. Lets hope this isnt a career ending injury.

The look on his face after the hit made my blood run cold..

I was in the North endzone and saw everything - hit appeared early and definately cheap - couldn't believe there wasn't a flag - officials said they really couldn't see it well enough - I'd be glad to give them my row 35 tickets

THIS +1,000,000,000000000000:mad:

That shocked me.

I always admired Hayden Fry for walking out to check on his player. When ARob was out stone cold, I thought KF should have been out there to see if he was OK.

Hayden was such a class act that he would often go out and check on opposing players, too. Well, he was sly like a fox, so I'm sure part of the reasoning behind that was to get a preliminary injury report, but irregardless of the intent, it at least looked like a classy thing to do.

There is no way he plays at Minny. If that hit didn't give him a concussion I don't know what will. I think at this point with two concussions within a month he needs to shut it down for the whole year.

If I'm not mistaken, I believe Hines had another cheap shot (helmet to helmet) where he got there too early on McNutt. It was called PI, but nonetheless looked like a dirty play.

The call was blown, even the announcers said something about it before they had even seen a replay. The replay not only confirmed an early hit, but the helmet to helmet hit.

As for KF's reaction, I do not feel it was or should be an issue. The biggest issue to me was the throw being made in the first place. Ricky seemed to be flustered and he obviously did not allow the play to develop the way he should have allowed it to develop. However, it is easy for me to sit here and say this...I am planning on replaying the DVR recording that I made later today and will definitely be looking at the play.

I don't agree with your assessment. To see one of your players get blown up the way AROB did and to stand there chewing your gum is lame. It was this way the whole game. I'm not saying Kirk needs to be dancing up and down the sidelines or running around hitting players on the shoulder pads- but on the other sideline you could see the passion that Jim Tressel, another conservative nature coach, had for winning this game.
