Highest RPI to make the NCAA is 74.

I confirmed this with Jerry Palm.

It was New Mexico in 1999. Additionally, New Mexico didn't beat a team that made the tourney that year during the regular season.

Iowa has a long ways to the 70s though.

Exactly. Which is why I still don't think that winning out and winning a first round game in the BTT will let us in. Gonna have to beat MSU or OSU in the 2nd round to get it even close to that number. Even then, it's bubble. Win all the way to the BTT championship and we have a real good chance of getting in.

Yikes, that's a LOT of wins in a row.

somewhat relevant if we knew what the bubble looked like that year.

the bubble is terrible this year and teams like illinois and minnesota are leaving our door open a crack.

Excellent point, however, I can't remember a soft bubble in a long, long time than this year's.

agreed. there are going to be some bad teams in the tourney.

i am starting to wonder if even UNI could get back on the bubble with a win over WSU on saturday.

Dang spank, I told you this earlier last week that the highest RPI was 74. But another tidbit on New Mexico is they won the Mountain West that year and the Mountain West did not have an automatic bid into the NCAA yet.
