I hope you are watching the Regina/St Albert HS foot ball game. Regina had a 3rd and 8. The Regina WR did a 9 yrd out. QB hits him.. 1st down, imagine that.

That sounds a little risky to me. They should have thrown a 3 yard pass to a reciever who is covered tightly in hopes that he breaks a couple of tackles and gets the first down. Otherwise you are just begging to throw an INT. Better to be safe and punt.

Gotta be careful with that. The other team may win.
i would send my TE down the seam, uncovered, as a decoy. Then completely ignore him. They won't expect that. Then, as DJL said, the 3 yd out is the safe play there.

Whoa, whoa...wait a minute. You mean the wide receiver went PAST the first down marker before the ball was thrown? Can he do that?

How do they know when to throw and catch the ball...is there some sort of timing thing? Do they practice it?

This is some cutting edge stuff....I gotta know.

Yeah I am scouring both the IHSAA and NCAA rule books but I am finding nothing on the subject. Apparently its not illegal they just dont say its legal. Gotta applaud Kurt for playing it safe.
