Hey Jon

The idea of the pay board was good, but I don't think the execution was there or what they envisioned. IMO a lot of the trolls have been weeded out from the free forums anyway...for now at least.
I wish I would have put $20 on @Joshbrown self-banning himself 3 or 4 years ago. The Vegas odds on that had to be like 500,000 to 1.

I also would have never taken the prop bet that he'd stick to it.

But I guess what else do you expect from a closeted clowns fan?

Yep. When I said Trolls and made it plural I was really only talking about him.

I went over to the HN RV in 2016 when he was back for the ISU game - Introduced myself and he spent nearly an hour talking to my wife and I - mostly about the Nebraska aspect to the conference and their media. He couldn't have been nicer or more welcoming. In fact, I kind of had to cut off the conversation and move on with my day towards the end. He was about the only person not drinking out of about 100k people and we were'n't completely wasted so maybe he just needed stimulating convo that wasn't all "RAW RAW HAWKEYES, CYCLONES SUCK"
Was there.

Was not drinking.

I tried to say hi to him once at Prairie Meadows once years and years ago. He was with friends as was I and it didn't really go anywhere. Wasn't a big deal I'm talking early 2000s like 01-02 maybe
How in the ever loving hell did you make it out of that place?

Two years ago I had to go down there for a software user group meeting. I am neither a gambler nor drinker, but after I got settled in my room I went down to the casino floor to walk around and watch people. Did that for about two hours, and I swear on my mother's grave it took me over an hour to find my way back to my room. It was like that one Zelda level on the NES game where you had to take exactly the right pattern of turns left, right, up, and down otherwise you just spawned at the beginning again.

A 35 year old man, completely sober and utterly lost in a single building. I don't believe in spirituality or the paranormal in any way, but I seriously thought I was either in the middle of a horror movie or having a stroke.

Holy cow. That was cathartic to type...

I never understood why folks would 'troll' That's one weird way to self entertain.

Haha this makes me laugh. Well back then the hotel part wasn't even there along with some other expansion stuff they've since done. The casinos in Vegas for SURE have that same effect on folks. PM never did me I guess. That's absolutely their intent. Everything from the colors of the carpet and lack of windows/clocks throughout them is intended to keep you there as long as possible.

Yep. no windows and confusing layouts....all of it is 100% intentional.

The good news is PM is building a massive sports book and assuming legalized sports betting is a foregone conclusion. So that should be fun.

I was at PM two years ago for horse races and it was completely dead there. Not sure if thats usual or not...it was over 100 degrees that day. But I've never seen a deader horse track in my life.

How is the whole sports booking thing going? I know the floodgates were opened up with NJ winning that supreme court case. But how fast other states are jumping in head first I haven't heard much about.

And yes unless it's the KY derby or some other 'big horse race day' nationally PM is never busy for their own horse racing. If it wasn't for the slot machines totally subsidizing that (like mens football subsidizing everything else) there'd be no horse racing in Iowa..

Some states already allow sports betting, although they're sorta easing it in. For Iowa, they proposed a bill in January of 2018 and then all the major sports league lobbyists got their money involved and the bill was never taken up for vote.

But with Prairie Meadows already building a sportsbook, you know they're going to start hammering the state legislature hard to get it voted on.

The major sports leagues are really fighting it hard and dumping money into it. They also are fighting hard to create laws so that they get a chunk of the money being gambled on for their sporting events.

Yeah the states have all had some time to try hammering out what they'd want to do but like everything gov't related good luck getting a quick smooth consensus with anything related to that.. As big as PM is I'm sure they have plenty of influence (their own lobbyists) within he states government. Most big $ companies do they'd be no different.

Yep. Seems to only be a matter of time. I still never understood why Nevada was allowed to be grandfathered into legalized sports betting but all the other states were banned from it. I'm the furthest thing from a lawyer, but it just screams wrong to allow one state to profit off something other states aren't even allowed to do if they wanted to.

Yup and that's why this was inevitable... Just had to have the right 'argument' brought to them and NJ was the perfect state to do it. But your right for it to have taken this long is tough to understand

@RobHowe Can we demand your tax returns?
