Hey bandwagon fans!

The fact is if were at this point right now, whos to blame for the lack of success. There are only a few answers to that. We shouldnt be where we are now

Precisely.
I don't get why so many "fans" are so eager to shift blame.
The head coach is paid extremely well to run the program. This includes recruiting, player development, preparation, game strategy, and many other key responsibilities.
The buck starts and stops with the head coach. If the team is mediocre (or worse), it is directly the fault of the head coach. There is no one else who bears the same level of responsibility. This is why only head coaches have W-L records.
If the head coach ain't cutting it, he needs to be replaced.
How is this so difficult for some to grasp??

I think people understand this. But it seems to me that some people accept mediocrity and don't need ROI. Some people seem to be extremely satisfied with status quo.

Iowa Hawkeye Football Fanbase = Chicago Cubs Fanbase

Happy with mediocrety and willing to pack the stadium even when the product is garbage.

Queue the "we're only Iowa, we should be happy with our occasional success" posts.

Sammy not making laffy at you... but Kinnick was filled every Saturday for 19 years in a row of loosing seasons before Mr. Fry! We are Hawk fans.. ain't nothing ever goin change that! Are you suggesting we don't show up? We are what we are... if you don't want to go to the games, give your tix up and someone will pick them up, and will be happy when the next good roll of Hawk teams come around. Been there done that.

Scorp, gawd bless ya... but who do we go out and get? Is there someone out there that will make us a contender... I'm not sure. Ideas?:confused:

Does this frustrate you? Because it sure as hell frustrates me.

Just leave. It isn't too late to find another team. If you all hate KF so much than stop watching, stop going to the games. It is an embarrassment to have a board like this. Way too much of a season left to be freaking out. Maybe reality stings now that you realize we aren't going 9-3. Deal with it with class.

And stop taking shots at JVB. The O stinks right now, and it probably isn't going to get much better any time soon.

Guess what? Greene isn't coming thru that door, neither is McNutt, neither is Sash, neither is Reiff or Bulaga. Deal with it. It is a down year with a super duper young team. Come back in a few years. We won't miss you anyway, bandwagon fan.

It's a template, Twin. Survey the most successful coaches, record the patterns that emerge, develope the template, and then find the candidates who fulfill the template.
They are out there. A lot of them. The college football universe is huge and growing.

It ain't alchemy; it ain't rocket science. It's coaching college football.

Here is an interesting addition to a message board, actual facts, not opinion. Take a look at this data Kinnick was filled to the brim before Fry. Wait, was it?

pffft
there's just no getting through to you, b10f
go on accepting the status quo, be happy with mediocrity
meanwhile, I'll be over here, demanding excellence and RoI and expressing my dissatisfaction with the man who is basically ripping off my Alma Mater

Wrong forum but I knew deep down politically you'd come around.;) Welcome aboard.

It's a very tough pill to swallow today. We knew we weren't that good but we haven't scored a TD in the Red Zone this year. To me it was the 1st and goal on the 3 against IS fu......U and we can't punch it in. We don't deserve to win if we can't find the end zone on that series.

Go back and look... I didn't say "filled to the brim" now did I youngin? But if you look real close you won't see much of a drop off ,if any, from the Rose Bowl days of the late 50's up until Coach Fry showed up, and that was my point!

Interesting, the case you are making only proves my point, that Iowa fans are extremely similiar to cubs fans in the just wait till next year mantra.

Do you want us to be like Clown fans and never show up? I don't get your argument? So we show our discontent by not buying tickets?

If we fire Kirk we're still going to have to pay him for a while so it's probably a good idea for Iowa fans to keep showing up so they can pay two coaches.

I never understood the moronic notion of having your fans not show up so they'll get better.

Ok, I lied, I understand it but it's still moronic.

Oh, and Cubs fans haven't filled Wrigley for a couple of years now and back in the 90's when they sucked they didn't do it then either.

None of that matters here but I thought I'd correct and incorrect assumption.

name calling? smooth.

yeah, should have known better than come on here after a loss, let alone create a thread.

don't worry, learned my lesson. i'll be avoiding this place after losses from now on.

hey, at least you didn't threaten me like one other poster did, so i guess you have that going for you.

I don't think expecting more out of your team and getting frustrated when they lose makes you a bandwagon fan. It almost makes you more of a fan because, as a fan, you dont want to accept the lackluster product that is being displayed by your favorite team. Most of the people on this site come here because they bleed black and gold and are irritated or apathetic at this point because even with change nothing new in regards to the Iowa Football program has occured.

This is true.

These first two games have been frustrating. I believe fans do have a right to express dissatisfaction with an established program, veteran coaches, and a fifth year senior quarterback that are failing to provide results.

Long awaited changes in staff were made and now we want to see that change on the field. Fans are inpatient, but this team has had ample time to adjust to New system and show more progress than this lethargic offense has produced.

Spot on.

After the game Keenan Davis said, point blank, that there is no excuse for the current play of our offense. He stated that they know what they are doing right now and that no player should be confused or unaware of a play when called.

I also don't understand either why a fan can't have a specific view regarding a coaching staff and the performance of their team. What we saw today is not an outlier it is the norm under this head coach. Twelve years of data backs up the points I have made in other threads. Specifically, that Iowa pays way to much money for the product the fans see on the field.
