Hero's Game Trophy: Pictures

Rival state, last game, bragging rights, trophy. Yeah, if Iowa can't played inspired football Friday then WTF! No "That's football" or "They wanted it more than us" BS excuses!

It's a nice trophy. A little uninspired, but classy nonetheless.

It will look nice in the Hawkeye football offices.

I think they missed on the presentation a bit....

There! Much Better!

That's pretty much my thought as well.

I just wish they could've come up with something iconic to go along with the best of the Big Ten trophies, like Floyd of Rosedale, the Little Brown Jug, etc. It seems like nobody is interesting in coming up with trophies like that any more.
Probably because most of those actually have stories behind them.

Solid. We've covered the main farm animals with Floyd and the Bull....no need to reach for a sheep. Now,just go out and earn this,Hawks!

not having a sponser name on it allows the change of sponsers and from either side of the state line. it looks good.

I like it, Husker approved.

On a side note, that trophy has alot of detail and a quite simple theme. A simple theme that works. Why the hell they couldnt of done this for your Iowa vs ISU trophy is beyond me.

The only problem here is that there isn't much in the way of history between the programs. That's how just about any iconic trophy finds its origins. This is a natural, but still manufactured rivalry. There's just no history.

They've played like 40 times going back to the 1890s, it's just that they haven't really played much in the last 50 years.

I'm sure somebody could come up with *something* better than the Pewter Family if they tried.

I do believe it's ears of corn, and is that grain around the football?

Either way, great looking trophy.

Those are laurel leafs. These were used in the old days (I'm talking Greece here) to represent honor and glory, such as in the Olympic games. There was a write up on it somewhere, I just don't have time to find the link again.

I like it, but agree that it would be nice to have something more "original" like Floyd. I still say a big ol ear of corn would be cool. But that's just me I guess.
