Herman/TE

I think the OP had a legit question.

I've been wondering about Hearman's hands too. He did have a couple drops in open space last year that we don't see too often from our TE's. Although they were early in the season, I always had a bit of an uneasy feeling when the ball was going his way. But Reisner had exceptional hands and I remember some of his amazing catches, but some how have blocked out his drops if he had many-- i just cant recall them.

But I felt like Brad got better and better as the season rolled on, so I expect him to play at a high level as the #1 TE. And he is a good blocker.

Finally... an adult who can discuss a topic w/out an attidue. Notice, i have not said anything rude to him. THanks for the feedback. When I posted this originally I saw good things in him, but also saw some drops. I also have an uneasy feeling when it's coming his way at times. Hoping he improves this year and he's what we think he can be.

With Herman and CJ have to believe those two TE sets are going to be particularly effective this year. Both are not only bigger than average TE's but, also athletic. CJ, already has the physical look of a NFL "blocking" TE and he can move and has good hands. Interested to see how effectively we use those TE's. Big targets for a "new" starting QB.

Yep, I like things about both, like both's size, some concern about hands with Herman. I think he will block well and make some catches, but I wonder if we wil see some dropped balls with him when we need them. Hope that isn't the case, we need him to be reliable catch wise.

Re: And we have a winner....

Next question will be about whether or not Riley Reiff is any good.

Hey, you only have 282 posts on here, dont you know you cant say anything. Better run your posts by the others first. I didn't know Herman was such an established commodity. When you have 9 catches in a year you are above reproach.

Wow, when HawkfaninTX is calling you out you have officially hit the height of douchebaggery.

"i am costanza, lord of the idiots!"

Correct, I am running all my posts by TX doucher before I post anything. He's a true expert in all matters, along with yourself. In fact, he should offer his services to Mack Brown, he's just that good. Bottom line, all my threads and posts are positive and for discussion until people like you jump in and start talking **** and claiming everything someone says is wrong and not allowing for someone else to have their own opinion. WHen that happens, I'll say whatever i want to you. If you are respectable, i will give that back. Take a look back and see if I have said anything to anyone that wasn't rude first.

Finally... an adult who can discuss a topic w/out an attidue. .

Yup, you are the adult in the room (as you kick your legs and have a temper tantrum and call names). Your question was a valid one to some degree, but the way you asked it was silly and lends itself to smart *** responses. You said this is not a leading question because you obviously knew it was one, otherwise there is no need for the statement.

Now go ahead and follow up with some childish rant.

Herman's a very good athlete, but I'm not sure re his blocking. I think he'll be more than capable running the seam route, though, and if his blocking was subpar, he wouldn't be playing. He can get down the field and I think he'll be just fine.

Boy, be careful questioning ANYTHING about Herman. Blocking? you better check with the HN experts before you say something like that....
Blocking is an area where I think he will be fine. He has great size, been in our system for a long time, I think he will be fine there. The coaches will have him ready to go in that area. Hands however cant be coached.

Threads like this one make me want to stop participating on forums. Not that anyone would miss me.

Geez, your a dick too? All you had to say was "Iowa has a good history of TE's so my opinion is that we'll be fine here, no worries". Just a cynical comment. grow up

You're the dick for using that pejorative towards a regular on this site.

Is HawkeyeMHA the new briankaldenberg?

the hawkeye mha has been on this site for less than a week and is retiring. Clearly you can't discuss hawkeye football here w/out everyone one-upping you, are being rude, sarcastic. If you do find adults on here that are able to discuss hawk football w/out a jerk, within three posts you have someone like you jumping in to ruin it. I'm leaving this to you guys. Have fun, i'll just watch the games instead. 50 posts and i figured this site out. No thanks. For the good people that stay on the site, god bless ya, but good luck with that....

Wow some of you need to get over yourselves and lighten up. He asked a legitimate question on whether people here think Herman will be a good receiver. There is no forum etiquette on making sure you have X number of posts before you ask something, and just because the post isn't said in a way you find suitable, doesn't mean you have to jump all over him. It's like you people think that since you're HN "Legends" that you run this board. It's a MESSAGE BOARD. It's for Iowa fans, and occasionally fans of other programs, to discuss football. Maybe we should just do that instead of jumping all over other people. Seriously, quit being xxxholes just to boost your own ego and bring others down

There is no "rules" about topics. He could attempt to read some threads before posting, because with newcomers they tend to stuck out like a dick on a poodle. In turn, making a fool of him/herself. Yeah I through in herself because of MHA's hyper sensitivity to critics of his posts. Especially two posts in a row about positions we are currently experienced at.

This guy must be a virgin to anything involving the Internet to act like a typical troll on a site that has been known to attract them.

But since when are you, or anyone else here, the forum police? There are no rules that he needs to abide by other than Jon's. There was no need for everyone to rip on him immediately. I understand what you're saying, and I agree that the trolls get annoying, but I get tired of seeing new posters get ripped on. It gets ridiculous that some around here think that they own the boards. And you call him hyper sensitive, but I would be too if I created a couple threads and the first replies are just ripping on me. Not the most welcoming environment

why would someone posting under anonymity warrant a respectable/welcoming response. I am not the forum police, but this guy deserves a "here's your sign!" from bill engvall.

also my avatar is my actual picture, and my name is Chris Braden. besides Jon, and a handful of others, I openly say who i am when asked or a "doucher" like this comes out to challenge him/her to display their name, and picture for accountability.

I wish that was part of the requirement here at HN.

Another rule of thumb would be to not tell others to "grow up" and then follow that with calling them "dick", telling them to "GFY", saying "suck one", calling them a "jag-bag", calling them a "tool", and then say "tell your girlfriend not to wait up later."

It just screams that he is a 16 year old troll.

But yes, as I sarcastically answered early on, before mr. MHA got his panties in a bunch, Herman will do just fine when he gets the call.

You sure are a meany, Boat!

I honestly do not remember Herman dropping any passes, but if he did,it was minimal.
I think he will fit right in the Iowa TE mold, very good blocker, solid pass-catcher.
He was a QB in HS,so he is a skill player who has bulked up. Even Tony Mo had some drops early in his career, but as a senior was golden. I am anxious to see how CJ does out in space...will he catch everything? Will he be a step and a half faster than Herman? Excited to see him running loose in the secondary like a runaway freight train.

Why can't the "regular guy on here" just answer the dude's question with some of his own opinions? The thread starter asked a legit question being that he had all of 9 catches last year.
