Here's the 'what's it feel like to give up onside kick' question

Q. What's it like the last three years against Minnesota and in this past game to give up an onside kick?

COACH FERENTZ: What would you guess? We haven't celebrated, if that's what you're asking.

-------

Seriously. What in the world does the guy think its like? And this was the second to last question of the press conference after Kirk had been asked more than five questions about the onside kick, and didn't get testy with any of it.

He had the right idea, just bad wording. I would have asked if he had an explanation as to how his teams could give up 5 onside kicks to the opposition since 2005. Different players, same coaches, same result. You do the math.

Probably a better question to ask fans rather than the head coach. For the HC something like "do you and your coaches not know how to teach kick coverage?" would have been more appropriate given that we are on year 3 now of blowing games because of it.

How about, "what should be the amount of onside kicks a team gives up before there are coaching changes at the personnel level?

How about: "What is it about covering onside kicks that you either don't understand or aren't able to teach?"

I think the question should have been "Why does you're team continually fail in onside kick situations?"

You say: "Almost as bad as being forced to answer idiotic questions."

But KF is a class act, and not a thrice-banned message board malcontent.

How about: "What is it about covering onside kicks that you either don't understand or aren't able to teach?"

I would have asked his favorite color or kind of gum. 70% of the time he get those right everytime.

Maybe we should start a club?

Maybe the coaches should figure out how to cover an onside kick. Quit doing stupid things in games and you won't have as many stupid questions to answer.

Someone should ask him a question about onside kicks for the rest of the season. It's unacceptable to lose games each year because of failure to recover an onside kick...let alone the other coaching mistakes we've seen lose games.

I'd wager he was trying to get Kirk to say what he already knew. That's not uncommon for a reporter. You may already know the answer, but you need a source to say it.
