Here's how Gator fans feel about facing Iowa, most are not happy.

My two cents...

Absolutely no comparison between us and Bama. If they believe that they're delusional.

They play the "how boring Iowa's offense is" card yet finished 5 (or so spots) in front of us.

I also think they underestimate the fact that our fan base is about as thrilled about playing them as they are about playing us. Boo they have to play Iowa. I can only hold back the excitement about playing a team who's been as good as Florida recently.

This Gator fan knows Iowa very well.........

"Iowa beat Michigan this year. They shellacked Nebraska too.

As much as I think we must win this game (for recruiting perception and fan placation), if we sleep on this team because their O struggles mean they aren't a 'sexy pick' we could get a nasty shock.

Iowa is a tough football team, it has an established senior starting QB who doesn't turn it over a whole lot, who might get drafted in the later rounds this year. They have two solid RBs who both far outperformed our best rushing stats this year. They also have D which includes an elite, all-american 1st round NFL cornerback (King) and another NFL draftee DT in Jaleel Johnson. They aren't mugs.

I expect us to get healthy, play well and win, but this isn't a cupcake game by any stretch. A lot will come down to how well we stop the run and protect the short passing game (they also have a solid TE in Kittle but Iowa really hasn't thrown the ball much this year - 116th nationally in passing attempts). I think it's a solid match up for us if we get healthy." LimeyGator

"I think our defense can disrupt Iowa's running game. They have good backs and a good O-line, but I think our front seven could have big games and stuff them early, forcing Beathard (ha! Beat Hard) to beat us with his arm. If we get Dawson back in time and our corners are up for the game, we could get an early turnover or two.
One of the keys to their win over Michigan was their second-string RB (at least I think he was second string at the time).
The guy is a load and he killed the Wolverines with consecutive runs where he ripped off big first downs to get them in scoring range. He had this killer jump-cut that made the Wolverine tacklers whiff. If we can wrap him up and limit YAC, we'll have a good chance to come out on top." NeptuneGator

From DocGator..........

"Iowa is the borinigest team in cfb. Boring. Boring. Boring. Boring offense, boring uniforms, boring state. Our guys may just pass out from boredom before the end of the first half. I was hoping for Nebraska. At least we could maybe begin paying them back for 1995."
If their players pass out, we should have a pretty good day. Let's hope.

This is exactly the type of game we like, a slugfest, and if they wanna trade blows in the trenches with us, Iowa would love that.

Where Iowa has always struggled with the SEC teams is the talent on the outside, or good, mobile QB's. Florida doesn't have that.

I copied and pasted their comments below from the Gator Swap Gas forum. Their about as arrogant as OSU fans.

"WE played them in Zook's second year and again in Meyer's first year. They upset a good Michigan team and destroyed Nebraska at home. I hope our defense comes to play, they are Alabama without the 5 star talent. Because a loss there, there will be noise if he starts 1-2 next year."

"Boring opponent. Open up the offense for recruiting."

"Either one of those opponents would give us about the same type game as LSU did. Pretty good defenses, nothing real flashy on offense. Gators beat either one of them 24-13." ( the other opponent this Gator fan spoke of is Nebraska)

"Oh God. Not this crap again. I hate Iowa. Their brand of football bores me more than a Ron Zook press conference."

"Iowa, Anyone else but Iowa."

"Confirmed by Brett McMurphy on Twitter. Sucks. Iowa really is an uninteresting opponent. Kinda wanted Nebraska."

"Iowa....zzzzzzzzz"

"Outback Steak House Presents: The Snooze Bowl. Final score: 2-2 (tie)"

"Iowa's offense is terrible. We've pretty much been able to beat every terrible offense we've played this year rather handily. The key will be how much effort will some of the guys looking ahead to the draft will give because you know Iowa is gonna play hard."

"They're a gritty team. Not sure we can out-coach them, but we should out-talent them."

"Iowans QB Blows! Anything more than 5 yards downfield is an incomplete pass" We can out coach and out talent them but if we can't throw the ball, it's hard to win."

"My honest opinion about this game is that we will destroy them and I am trying to remove the OB glasses on that prediction. It's a hard prediction to make after the last two games but I think we will destroy Iowa. Might be a good betting opportunity because whatever the line is, I think we will be counted less than we are.

UF - 24
Iowa - 10"

This doesn't just represent "fan" opinion, but it also represents what Iowa's reputation is and highlights what our offensive philosophy does to minimize our ability to recruit skill position players. You can't believe that ONLY Gators fans feel this way and only because they're playing us in a bowl game. The Stanford fans felt pretty much the same way, last year. So, that's coast-to-coast. Ferentz needs to fix this.

Basketball team plays "exciting" basketball.
4 wins 5 losses.

Football team plays "boring" football (except against Michigan, Illinois, and Nebby).
8 wins 4 losses.

I'll take "Duh Comparisons" for a thousand Alex.

Apples: Hawk fans want "exciting" football and "exciting" basketball

Oranges: Hawk fans don't want boring" football or "boring" basketball

Apples to oranges: basketball team can score a lot ("exciting") but can't play defense. Football team plays defense but can't move the ball and put up PlayStation scores ("boring").

Not very exciting for the basketball team to score in the 80s and Get rolled by the UNO cards.

Very exciting to watch the football team score 14 points and beat the 3rd ranked team.

Apples to Oranges: Football has 14/15 returning starters and has mediocre (at best) offensive performance and is average on defense for first 9 games of season, losing 3 consecutive home games. Basketball has 8 freshman and 2 uninjured upperclassmen but play an exciting brand of ball.

Apples to Apples: Basketball - Losing to UNO. Football - Losing to NDSU, an FCS team.

Iowa basketball has been in five consecutive post season tourney's (2 NIT/3 NCAA) in Fran's first 6 seasons at Iowa, so you're position that "boring" equals success over a period of time and exciting does not equal success is in error, in my opinion. Fran should be allowed an occasional rebuilding year, just as Ferentz has been allowed several.

Nobody cares about the NIT so remove it from your argument.

I can't believe you just cited the freaking NIT. You know how you spot irrational Ferentz haters? Ask them their opinion of Fran McCaffery

Do you know how to spot irrational Ferentz lovers? Ask them their opinion of Fran McCaffrey.

I very much stand by my use of the NIT. It is a nationally recognized post season tournament. And, back to back NIT appearances after dealing with what Todd Licklighter left behind, is quite an accomplishment. At least I provide a position and defend it with facts; instead of using name calling, like you did.

Agreed, even a 40 point blowout (not happening) will barely be a blip on the national perspective, especially on a full football day that comes with a New Years bowl. But a loss, even a marginal one will be viewed as a repeat of our "collapse" last year and will be the repeated mantra for 8 months until 2017 season kicks off. I don't want to deal with that. I have no ill will toward Iowa, but I hope we beat them so badly that Iowa is forced to fold as a football program permanently, because the alternative choice involves significant quantities of alcohol.
