Here's a sobering thought.....

I know the Big Ten needs a certain number of teams to fulfill their bowl commitments, but if we go 6-6 I hope someone has enough sense to decline any invitation.

I doubt it......People will spin it to about having those extra 15 practices.

Imagine how bad our football teamswould look in September if we didn't have those extra practices the year before.

Yeah, us and about half the teams in the nation, given all the bowl games there are these days. No edge gained there, not against other programs with a pulse, that is. It's not like Iowa will be out practicing while everyone else is sitting at home trimming the tree this December.

Well, we will have more practice than ISU, again. And still lose to them next year, again. I'm not so sure that additional practice time with our staff is a good thing.

Just think how badly Ferentz would get outcoached by ISU if we didn't have that extra practice.

And some people thought this team could get into the playoffs. To take on a team like Florida State or Oregon or Auburn

Yeah, how could a fan base expect a coach in his 16th season field a team capable of winning a championship? I'm not one that thinks Iowa could have made the NCAA playoff, but this coach has under achieved this season, so far, and that is a very sad state of affairs, in year 16.

Your point is spot on, but it isn't the point. Yes, Iowa fans should have expectations and, yes, a coach in his 16th year should be driving the ship full steam ahead. But, this team has been highly mediocre all year. People were still saying playoffs halfway through THIS season.

If the brutal performances against UNI and Ball State weren't enough, the loss to Iowa State should have been the clincher.

There always has to be a few at the far left end of the Bell Curve. Morons, in other words.

The staff is trying man, cut them some slack.

Those extra practices are obviously crucial
