LOL, it is HILARIOUS that people actually have a problem with this.As Kirk would say, "Give me a *bleepiin* break."

HA You really wana have this conversation about quality bowl games? When Iowa goes to the Insight bowl it sucks.Oh, I just like to mix it up with you guys. I was trying to be nice. And I think that defending Kirk's little hissy fit today is kind of crazy.
Relax....it's all almost over for this year. And it wouldn't surprise me a bit if you guys managed to win 1 or 2 more games. That might put you back in line for the Insight Bowl (or whatever it is called now) again. Michigan hasn't beat Iowa in 4 years. It's always darkest before dawn and all of that...
Hypocritical ****. It's ok for Ferentz to tell someone how to do their job but if one person even hints that he needs to do something different he has a little ***** fit.

FERENTZ REACTION: Coach Ferentz Reacts To Reporter Question About Gray | WHOTV.com
Yeesh.
Ferentz: That's a stupid question, you have to admit that, right? 'Out there'? Some guy sitting in the stands says maybe that was a bad call. *******"
Luke Meredith of the AP 'Maybe I could have asked it in a better way."
Ferentz said to that, "Please. If you are going to sit in here every ******* week? please."
I am still of the opinion that I shared early this afternoon that Ferentz wasn't irritated about being asked about Peter Gray, rather, that the reporter chose to ask it in the fashion he did, as in "It's out there...." I think what Kirk was saying about with regards to the 'some guy sitting the stands' comment is if you are going to start asking questions that are 'out there', where does it stop? Are you going to ask questions based on what someone sitting in the stands has to say about play calling, etc.
I would like this post twice if I could.
Everything about Kurt has become do as I say not as I do. His son working for the program the way he is as an example. He has done a lot of good for our program and state but hes starting to seem entitled almost Steve Alford like.
After the Penn State happenings you can't just expect to sweep this under the rug. Obviously not near the extent of the crimes in the allegations however still needs to be taken serious. This guy was an adviser for the athletic department. Ferentz has a responsibility to look out for his players. I would think that if anything happen between Gray and a football player that it's not crazy to assume he'd let his coach know. Therefore is a reasonable question to ask Ferentz and expect him to take it serious.
It's taken 14 years but Coach Ferentz has finally learned a valuable lesson from Coach Fry. Unintentional perhaps, but all of the attention is now on Ferentz and off his players.
Hassel doesn't get the say so to put this story in the A Block and the lead story in the A block at that.
Ferentz comes across as a tad thin in the skin in that clip. He should have simply answered the question.
I'm disappointed the reporter apologized. He had no reason to.
Understand.......but I have a feeling someone's sale's shoes were on when they walked into the station carrying this story with them. Weren't they also the only one to get it all on film after the formal conference session ended? I think they got all excited about how they may have the inside track and forgot about the level of substance attached to it.
Anyway, enough about someone's lack of judgement in making it a headline event versus a segment of their sports for the day. Like The Eagles said "give'm dirty laundry".
Except I don't think it had anything to do with Gray at all I think Kirk's reaction had everything to do with someone asking a question by leading with 'It's out there'. Had Kirk been asked the question directly and not a reporter using an unnamed or unidentified entity to introduce the topic, I suspect there wouldn't have been any flare up whatsoever.
I took it as more of a man sort of being ticked that another man didn't have the stones to just come out and ask him the question, rather introducing it by saying it was 'out there' which sort of shifts the reason for asking it because of what someone else had said, and then not even saying where you heard it from.
in viewing that, I think KF was upset with the "it's out there" lead-in. It's as if the reporter wants to distance himself from the question by adding in that qualifier. Either ask the question or don't ask it, you don't need to throw in the nebulous "it's out there."
Except the reporter isn't making the allegation, he's asking for a comment about an allegation that was made.
Should he have named the source rather than say "It's out there"? Sure. But from this point forward the expectation should be every reporter name their "source of information" before posing the question.
