Herbstreight talking smack!

Little sarcasm there, but he is a good coach. It's kinda like others have mentioned tho O$U has already been dominate in our conference. In the eyes of the "experts" he could help the B1G, which is good for the conference as a whole. Especially when we beat them.

Meyer got Florida kids; now he'll have Ohio and Michigan kids. Meyer will have moments, but it won't be much different than Tressel. In order to have the dominate defenses that are in the SEC, you need the size and speed of the southern recruits. Official visits to Columbus in late October-November will keep those types away. I don't see a drastic change in offensive philosophy in the Big Ten because of the weather factor.

On a side note, why is the Big Ten the only conference picked on when it comes to comparisons with the SEC? Last I knew, if the SEC has been winning the last 5 NC, that must mean other conferences other than the Big Ten haven't been winning them either.

This

Tressel won with superior talent where Meyer will dominate with superior talent

The vest playing conservatively was the best thing for the rest of the conference and still no one could beat them

Nah, come on guys. Tressel won 6 B10 titles in a freaking row. You think Meyer will do better than that? With Mich on the way up with big recruiting classes, and Wiscy, MSU, et. al. all looking solid as well?

At best, Meyer, or anyone else, will do no better than Tressel.

A Michigan that is MICHIGAN will definitely put a dent in Meyer's dominance. Plus, the Hawks never beat OSU anyway, so what exactly is going to change for Iowa?

What's stopping tOSU from winning 6 more in a row? They would be winning the conference this year had it not been for losing Pryor and other players due to NCAA infractions.

The talent tOSU can bring on and reload with year after year exceeds what any other big ten team is capable of.

exactly my point. Urban Meyer will hardly make any difference.

I think Meyer can take them to an even higher level though. Tressel's conservative style let a lot of teams hang around the probably shouldn't have. I think in a few years under Meyer they can just be stomping everyone by 30 and actually win a bcs title, instead of not showing up when it counts as they did after the '02 win

what i think is BS in this whole thing is Urban's statement saying, no one has offered him a job, blah blah blah. How are all these different people and organizations saying he will be the next coach and talking terms, etc. and he makes that statement like theres not truth to any of it. Come on Urban....you're going to take the job and you know it...

It's all PR. Anyone in his position is gonna do the same thing until the time to announce is "right".

A place like tOSU probably has a PR firm managing the entire situation and he's just being told what to say and when

yeah, i know, total pr/drama. If there was actually any truth to urbans statement, and some university was saying i was going to coach somewhere i was not, i'd be ****** and would actually not coach there. obviously that isnt the case, all pretty dumb to me when i hear urbans statements.

all he has to say is that, they've approached me or they havent, we've met or we haven't, they've offered or they haven't, im considering or im not, etc. he was ridiculously vague and acted like it was all news to him. highly unlikely, drama on his end

probably has something to do with the fact that the team still happens to have a game this weekend with their biggest rival.

also food for thought for iowa....what is KF' s record in post season against SEC teams. nough said.

so clearly this means that Iowa will own tOSU under meyer?

At the end of the day, from a W/L perspective, he probably won't change things much. But the WAY they could/would win will be much different. They wouldn't let teams hang around. They'd go out and try to curb stomp them every week, on both sides of the ball.

In other words, the opportunity for a Big Ten title for a program like ours a little smaller with Meyer at OSU. They'll be tougher to beat.

The scary thing is that while OSU already recruits florida well he will have better access to that state than any Big 10 coach ever has. OSU will have a leg up in two of the most talent rich states in the nation- Ohio and Florida. Some very good points have been made in this thread about scheme, etc. He will also be able to put together a very, very good coaching staff.

If he is committed and healthy he could run off 6+ titles in a row again. Wisconsin will likely lose Chryst in the next season or two. PSU has obvious issues. Michigan is certainly trending up, but they are still lacking their true offensive identity and they still have work to do. The table is set for Meyer to come in and own the division and league.
