Heartland Trophy

First of all, let me say that I'm a bit like Ferentz when it comes to trophies. Sure they're nice, but what's important is the win. That said, I had a curiosity when people keep bringing up that the Heartland trophy will be in Wisconsin until at least 2013:

What if we play Wisconsin in a non-regular season game? Is the Heartland Trophy on the line? However, unlikely, what if Iowa and Wisconsin meet in the Big Ten title game? I'm guessing the ADs didn't think there would ever be a B10 title game when the trophy was created, but did they consider the possibility of these two teams meeting in a different setting, perhaps a bowl game?

I just thought this was an oddity that might be interesting to discuss.

I was wondering this as well. I suppose that if we were to meet for the Big Ten title (as unlikely as I believe that may be within the next two years), we'd probably play for the Bull as well.

Anyway, it's a moo point (!). We should have kept the Bull in IC, and our failure to do so was completely inexcusable, considering the circumstances.

I say leave the Bull for the winner of the regular season battles. It signifies the importance of playing well in the regular season.

If Iowa and Wisconsin meet in the BigTen championship game, that'll be enough of a trophy.
