Hearn's hard foul on Dev

No ejection, not close enough to warrant it.

I still can't believe Hearn was upset at the call. He made no play at the ball and wrapped him up from behind. Basically the definition of a flagrant 1.

Northwestern was whining all night. Sobolewski wasn't happy with getting whistled when he poked Oglesby in the eye.

I am not sure Hearn's wasn't totally upset at himself and that is what is demonstrative actions were about. His facial expression seemed like he was thinking "how could I do something that stupid, these hawkeyes are letting us hang around by missing every 6 footer in the world and then I do something stupid by committing a flagrant 1 on their best FT shooter. And I go to a brainiac school"

What was with that DBag trying to twist White's arm off? That was pretty bush league.

Yes that was so blatantly obvious and that stupid bald ref was looking right at them. It was holding, clutcing, grabbing whatever, it was a foul and a hard foul

There was a lot of dirty play by NW last night. Josh having his eye scraped was just one incident.
Generally agree, although the play on Josh did not look malicious... eye pokes/scrapes are pretty common.

Anyway, it's a good warm-up for tonight. In the first 10 minutes of the game, MSU will test the refs to see what they can get away with. You'll see some flat out muggings under the basket.

Agreed that this foul was out of frustration not malice.

However, the punk arm lock on White pis$ed me off. My view of it was that was intentional and warranted at minimum, a foul called.

Overall I thought Iowa got the better calls than Northwestern.

Yep. Hawks are going to need to play smart, act a bit, get the early calls.
