Hawks vs. Wichita St. on ESPN3 at 9 a. m. tomorrow

We beat 1/3rd of a mid-major that probably won't be ranked for the rest of the year. Glad not to go 0-for, but the result is as meaningless as a preseason game.

Definetly surprising to not see more minutes from the bench with a big lead.

Baer was terrific. I may be wrong about this kid. He doesn't look the part but he has something you can't teach and that's just the instinct for the ball on rebounds. Still a little slow on the perimeter D but between him, Uthoff and Jones playing minutes at the 4, all can shoot the long ball and help space the floor.

Just squeaking by them with 2 of their best players out would have been discouraging, but we blew them out. As long as we beat Florida State and don't trip up against anyone else, the non conference will be either ok or good, depending on what happens against ISU. Even if we lose that game, getting through the non conference without really hurting our chances at the tournament is a good thing.

Glad we won this one. Looked like I expected. Don't realty understand the criticism of Woody. He is playing the best he has in his career. He is a solid influence in the middle, steadying the team with his presence. Playing strong D, directing the team on D and rebounding well. Bails MikeG out when he is stuck by the opponents' defense. And he is playing within his zone on offense. We do need him to be successful this season.

The Dayton loss was hard to take, but when our number one point guard only plays the first 2 minutes of the first half, and gets his third foul called early in the second half, we are going to have problems especially with an extremely athletic team like Dayton.

Jarroyd wasn't ready for the lockdown D the Flyers used to stop him. The best D he has faced as a Hawkeye.

The rally against Dayton and the Irish was encouraging. Nobody expected us to go undefeated this season. Better to get the losses out of the way early especially to quality opponents.

The reserves will come around on an as needed basis. There is a lot of potential there. However we will need our experienced players to be ready to play every game.

All that said, I am Very Worried about winning at Iowa State. They look extremely athletic and seasoned.

No, it's not. If we had lost, it'd hurt us come postseason. Does that Augustana loss hurt us come postseason?

I hope no one pees in your cheerios tomorrow morning again.
