Hawks Vs Turtles!!!

I believe everyone associated with this program has checked out.

Fans and students yes, players and coaches no. It's just not a very good team and injuries to go on top of it. The "not very good team" thing is on Fran even though he's my favorite Iowa b-ball coach. The players are playing at their ability level which unfortunately doesn't compare to the top half of the B1G.

If they woulda stopped the count at halftime we had em..

That type of O is a tough thing to maintain all game long especially when Dix didn't do anything.

Our defense man... It's so bad. Combine that with it seems like everyone we play also has a guy or two just get hotter then normal. That game was such a mismatch. We had no advantage against any of them at the defensive end. Inside they were too tall/long/athletic and their guards were bigger quicker and just good.

I appreciate the effort our guys do try. I don't see any quit or guys hanging their heads. They just aren't good enough.

Seems like Dix has regressed.
I don't think so. Geez, just in their most recent game on the road at Rutgers he had 26 points and carried the team on his back to victory! I just thought he looked flat-out sick yesterday -- nose was running and he looked like hell. And his shots were all coming up short, which is unusual for him.

Payton referenced Josh in an interview, and no details, but said that Josh was going through some real difficulties. Payton also said he personally is dealing with some difficult injuries. We will never know. None of our business. I will say that Josh and Payton are both a lot tougher than we will ever know.

The team quite clearly hasn't checked out, they are outmanned at this point. I still would applaud a new direction for the program. I am still watching, at attended a game in the last week, but I am checked out.

Goetz is on the fundraising trail trying to raise money for a 300-400 million dollar renovation to Carver and I’m guessing she isn’t sell it without a vision/direction of the men’s program moving forward.

I have to respect your conclusion and I know that it was not easy for you to openly come to your conclusion. From the beginning you have been very supportive of both head coaches. I was definitely that way during Kirk's firth three seasons. I could clearly see what he was trying to do on the offensive and defensive lines. I know it would take a little time for him to rebuild there. I stood firm and opposed the Bobby Stoop whiners.

Sure Bobby may have been great if he had came to Iowa, but Kirk's expertise was working with the lines and he did rebuild those lines and ended up being very successful and the coach with the most wins in Big Ten history.

Fran restored a basketball program in deep distress and returned it to respectability. You got to give both coaches a lot of credit. However, the game has changed due to schools being able to buy and create a semi-pro program. Both Iowa programs are at a huge disadvantage and Iowa is not equipped to maintain to compete at the higher level. Two choices here. Keep both coaches and just try to maintain programs that are respectable with no chance to actually legitimately competing for a conference title. OR play craps and roll the dice and maybe hit the lottery, but with a higher likelihood of becoming a crappy program by playing craps.

Naw he just had a bad game and those guards for MD are just a terrible matchup for him. I think he wasn't feeling good either I don't think he's anywhere close to 100%. I can't remember him being as off as he was with some of his shots before. It's one thing to miss it's another to be as short as he was on some of em.

He'd been playing great not that long ago so I'm not gonna say that he's regressed as a player this yr. Just think he had an off night at MD. Kudos to MD offensively they look damn near unbeatable. Granted we tend to make teams look that way but inside out they just did whatever they wanted it seemed like

Where are you getting this number? Honestly curious. nebraska built a primo arena, brand new from the ground up that's bigger and than anything the Hawkeyes would ever need for $180 million. You're out in left field.

Agree 100% For those watching the games that's what I see. They are playing hard. They run hard they are trying. They just aren't healthy or as good as these other teams. We have 2 starters that are out with Sandfort and Dix playing that obviously aren't anywhere close to 100%. You start going down any teams lineup past their top 3 or 4 guys being out/playing hurt and just being able to compete becomes problematic.

The injury bug is what it is. Everyone gets hit by it some just way more then others. Iowa isn't deep enough or good enough to be able to sustain a Freeman being out. Or Thelwell who I thought shoulda been starting all yr. We couldn't have a larger drop off in production with trying to replace Freeman by committee let alone with just Dembele or any one guy.

And Iowa was struggling to compete with a healthy Freeman. It wasn't like Iowa was guaranteed to be winning road games at MD or most places with him either. It's just that without him it makes everything that much tougher. It's just a reality
