Because he doesn’t recruit skill position players on offense or play an offensive style that values scoring every possession. Isn’t it obvious? And they mask holes defensively by playing everything in front of them. No speed at linebacker, rarely a blitzing unit due to lack of athleticism of linebackers in space

They outrecruit and overrecruit their scholarships every year and everyone has to earn their spot every year.

Clemson was terrible before Sweeny got there. Worse than Iowa. S.C. isn't a powerhouse, even though they had one of the greatest coaches of all time as their head coach. Demographics don't matter. Recruiting tenacity does. Tradition helps too.

You can't be nice guys and win. You can be legal. But not nice. Football is not a nice game.

What is rather comical is people were comparing our defensive line to the Clemson defensive line. Not even in the same ballpark.

Meh, I am not going to touch our defense. Very very few years our D is a problem.
 
Not so, they are stepping up thier game. Today’s win will be a great springboard into the 2019 season with Iowa as a serious national championship contender. Also Iowa would have won the national championship in the 2009 season had Stanzi not been injured. They were undefeated in games that he was healthy for.

Clemson line doesnt spend most of the game on the field or spend so much energy standing up from the bench and running back on the field.

Proud of our D yesterday. All year. We finished a top 10 D. Nice job guys.
Proud of the O for getting it done. IDC how, ugly or not, you stayed with it, played clean and overcame one heck of a D.
Jake could have just said oh shit on their td play, but he didn't. ISM could have said oh shit after the fumble, but he didn't. Nate friggin ran down the pick he threw. Nice. Really nice.
