Hawks in position to finish 6th by themselves

Let me clarify. Minnesota will briefly be a bubble team at 6-9 and come right back off at 8-9. I'm not suggesting a 9-9 Minnesota team is a bubble team. They are in at 9-9 IMO. Actually, I'm not giving Minnesota those last 3 wins. I forgot that they end with games at Purdue and Nebraska. Minnesota is bad on the road and both of those games will be on Senior Day...bad break IMO because Senior Day is a tough win on the road.

Well considering if Minny loses 2 then wins 3 they will be 21-10 (9-9) and if Iowa ends with a 4-1 record on the last 5 games they would also be 21-10 (9-9) record with Iowa and Minny splitting they head to head games 1-1. Minny's RPI I believe will keep them in the tourney but I think Iowa will be the bubble team at that point. They will need a win or two to get them probably based solely on their RPI.

Minny's worst loss right now is Northwestern, then Iowa, then Illinois.

Iowa would be 10-8 if they finish 4-1, not 9-9.

I see what you're saying, yeah I don't know but I think Minny has the ability to win at Purdue and Nebraska. I think they can but you're right, it isn't if they can but if they will win those games.

Purdue will be especially tough. They love Byrd as much as we love May...fans and teammates. Mackey will be absolutely rocking and with Minnesota on the road... Painter and the Boilers would love to rain on Minnesota's parade.

Byrd is a tough kid, he looks like a brawler. I wouldn't wanna tick him off.

You would be correct!

Thanks, TM!

But in your opinion, which team would have a better resume then,

21-10 (10-8) hawks, or 21-10 (9-9) Minnesota?

Sorry, I know this is directed at TM but at those records Minnesota has a better resume and it is not even close. But Iowa will not be competing against Minnesota for a bid in that scenario, they will be up against other bubble teams from other conferences.

I agree, Minny for the most part has won the games they should and lost the games they should. Minus their lose against Northwestern.

Personally, I think Minnesota will lose one of those last three games. They'll lose the next two, and I think Tubby will lose this team, if he hasn't already. Penn State has been playing better lately, @Nebraska hasn't been a gimme for a lot of the top teams, and Mackey is never an easy place to win.

That team just has a lot of negative momentum right now, and I don't see them fixing that. At 8-10, with a 4-6 L10 record (and a loss to one of the bottom three teams), I think they'd be firmly on the bubble.

Tm, I hope that does not happen. For one it is Iowa's best quality win and secondly I would enjoy seeing them play in the NCAA. That team is still talented and could surprise everyone with a little run.

The big key is going to be Williams' health. If he can't heal up in time, I see them having a hard time making the necessary strides down the stretch to ensure a bid.

Agree.

The big is stacked this year, most would agree to that. Where does this team finish if it were a normal big year, say a year under lick or Alford?

We should get the answer to this question next year...a more normal year with only May gone. I think Michigan State wins the conference...only lose Nix. I would put Michigan 2nd even if Hardaway and Burke are gone...assuming all others stay. I will pick Iowa 3rd. So...I guess Iowa would finish 3rd if this were a normal year IMO. Note - If Zeller and Oladipo return then Indiana is 2nd IMO with Michigan and Iowa dropping a spot.

If Lick was coaching Iowa this year in this Big Ten...The season would be a huge Brust!

Under Alford we would be looking forward to another NIT bid, under Lick we would all be complaining about Lick wasting a scholarship on Larson and Brust transferring. But Lil Lick would have been third team All Big Ten this year as a senior.
