Hawks Bury Hoosiers

Did watch as I am a huge Packer fan but it's nice to see a win. The next two are winnable.

I liked the way Fran had the team continue taking the ball to the hole late in the game with a significant lead. Loved the "hail Mary" in-bounds passes that led to baskets (and a foul, IIRC).

The fact that even merits note goes to the sorry state of the program Fran inherited.

Indiana was face guarding for the last several minutes with no one in center field...it's a wonder we didn't go to the 'touchdown' pass sooner.

If you guys get a chance to watch it again, check out how badly Iowa abused Jordan Hull on the defensive end. It seemed like Iowa tried to get the ball to whomever he was guarding. Marble did an especially good job at this, using his height advantage to score at will in the lane over Hull and the other small Indiana guards, and I hope Iowa has him do that more to the small guards in the league in the future.

I wish May had hit that first fast break dunk he tried off a long outlet pass. I thought he was just going to lay it up and then he exploded off the floor to try the dunk. Impressive.

Perrault must have been disappointed. Listened to his show Friday on the drive home and he seemed giddy at the opportunity to talk about a possible 0-16 conference season. And we know after listening to his conversation with Rob Howe about the DJK situation that he isn't above finding the misfortune of area teams funny since he literally said so during that conversation.

It just goes to show I think that even if we are an improved team from a year ago (and I think we are), it still may not show in our overall record because the Big Ten is so tough this year. Those first 6 games were brutal.. 5 of 6 against ranked teams, including two against the #1 team in the country and another on the road against a Purdue team that is hanging around the Top 10. The home game against NW was the only real disappointing loss in there.. All the others are understandable. Even if we were a considerably better team than we actually are, our conference record could still be kinda ugly right now..

It feels good to get any conference win this year, and it was nice to see us pretty much handle Indiana for the full 40 minutes. There was no doubt we were the better team out there yesterday. It gives me hope that it will not be the last victory we will see this year. Still going to be a tough year, but it won't shock me to see us win a few more games.

Yesterday showed flashes of what might be out of Basebe and Marble. Gatens was really solid and next season should be fun.

Agreed and I thought Matt improved his drive to the basket...stronger and drew a couple of blocking calls. Brommer showed continued intensity. Marble knows he can do it now, too. Congrats to all the team.
