Hawks a No. 1 Seed in NIT

What coach has had 10 years to prove himself? Fran? If that's who you're referencing, you're not good at math.

In his first six years, he brought the team to three NCAA Tournaments in a row for the first time since '91-93. He took over the program when it was in the absolute crapper after Lick. It was way worse than when Alford or Lick took over. Way worse.

Would we like to see Iowa do better? Yes. We all would. But I think most of us realize where this program has been and see some hope for the future.

You need to find some perspective. You clearly don't have any.

Living in Tennessee, you have a very, vocal minority that wants to get rid of Butch Jones.
Vol fans forget how bad it was under Derek Dooley.

Same thing with this vocal minority of Hawkeye fans.
You forget how bad it was under Lick on the sidelines and Little Lick on the court.

Yes, it was frustrating seeing Indiana light it up, and then go cold against Connie.
Love the young talent and excited for these next few years.
Like bowl games, hope to have a motivated basketball team.

If tickets are priced like they were last time, crowd will be awesome. It's the 1st chance for many who are involved w/ HS hoops all year to go to a game.

Just bought 2 tickets 7th row for $20 each. Expect a full house and loud for this one. I'll be loud.

Go Hawks!

Come on Rob.....he has already had seven (7), and numerous posters say he deserves another three (3)....that's ten (10). What ISU continues to do on the fly takes no time at all. I am sick and tired of hearing about what he inherited,,,,that was SEVEN years ago!!!! Look at his record in the Big 10 Tourney, and in early season tournaments...it is pathetic, That display against Indiana is what you get with this guy....sorry, nice fresh new players....but we will NOT see dividends down the road with the guy who is coaching them. Period.

You mean like how we didn't see divedends down the road with his first two full classes? You're right, back to back conference records of 12-6 in a period of a tough Big Ten is terrible... pull your head out of your ass, man. You're obviously passionate about the Hawks, but you refuse to think before you get outraged.

Also, you are EXTREMELY downplaying the shape of the program Fran inherited. Iowa basketball was a wasteland after Alford and Lick.

Playfaker isn't passionate about the Hawks. He's passionate about getting a reaction from real fans. I guess it stokes his ego to get replies to his weak crap.

I like Fran's style of ball...but his in game coaching has never impressed me...nor his in game demeanor which works against winning...for the refs and his players...

I can't think of a worse combination of in game, on the fly coaches for a big time program...football, BB, than Kirk and Fran...seldom impressed, seldom have seen "their coaching" win many games.

My two cents...and I want Fran to stay...and bring his kids!

Dont respond to playmaker. The next post that isn't him bashing the hawks will be his first. He's a used up douche. He might reply to this, but he doesn't know how to use the reply button so I won't see...

They play Wednesday at 6 on ESPN2 according to the btn.

I hope there is a rebroadcast of the game. I will be having dinner with 24 yr old daughter to celebrate her birthday. Wow, it's amazing how fast they grow up. I remember posting about her leaving for college and it seems like just yesterday.

As I said, we all wish there were better results in the BTT. I'm sure he does. But that's not the whole story just the narrative that you're trying to promote that he can't coach, which is just factually incorrect.

Fact: He brought Iowa to the NCAA Tournament three years in a row for the first time since '91-93. He was within a hair of making it four in a row for the first time since the mid to late '80s.

Fact: Fran McCaffery and his staff are the first in program history to guide Iowa to 18-or-more wins in six straight seasons.

Fact: Iowa has had four straight first-team all-Big players for the first time since the '40s. Three of them - Jok, White and Marble had very few scholarship offers coming out of high school.

Fact: The Hawkeyes have finished in the upper division of the Big Ten for five years in a row with a .500 or better record in league each year. That included ties five place this year and third place the two previous years. I'll let you look up the last time that happened.

I could keep going but I'll let you produce some evidence for your side of the argument other than the BTT struggles. And if you're going to use that they haven't made the Sweet 16 please put in the context of what has been done with this program in the last 50 years. Thanks.

Fact: This team grew more in one season than I can ever remember in Iowa Basketball. Look at the early losses to Virginia, etc where they were completely outclassed. For this team to come back and go 10-8 in the B10, and with any luck at Nebraska or against Minnesota, they are 11-7 or 12-6 and dancing.

Fact: They play a fun brand of basketball. Sure, they need to get better defensively and on the glass, but they run and play loose, and they have some athletes.

Don't forget home against Illinois. You can't win them all but those 3 games could have easily been wins and we would have been a 2 seed in the Big 10 tourney and one game off a conference championship. I know some people don't care about being close, but when you're that close in a down year, it's pretty good.

I hope you have a greattime with your daughter. It sounds like a lot more fun than watching a basketball game. For people that take these games to seriously, there are a lot more important things in life.

Are tickets free, a la the spring game?

I was really hoping we'd get paired up with DMACC or Luther but hey...
