Hawks #18 in Way-Too-Early ESPN Top 25

It's a good starting point

This. With our schedule, there could be serious top-10 potential. Not that we would necessarily be deserving of a ranking that high, but a 9-1/10-0 start would give the program some serious exposure. I don't care if we deserve that or not; the possible benefit in recruiting would be the same either way.

It is helpful to be ranked just in case Iowa goes on a 2009 style run at the beginning of the season...we will zoom up the rankings, and just in case we are undefeated at the end, would give us some media love, which cannot hurt in the committee room.

The title says it all does it not?? Starting there is great. So long as they finish there or better. I'm surprised with the world knowing the schedule Iowa has that they would rank us that high to start Because until Iowa plays Wisky the argument to if Iowa is any good or not (nationally) will be held with a Barry Bonds like asterisk. That said if Iowa finishes with 3 losses or less they'll be 18th or higher at the end.

MSU damn near loses there entire defense for a team totally reliant on their D, and they're 6? Makes sense.

wait, are we talking basketball or football? just because Iowa has an easy schedule doesn't mean top 25. i don't get it. is there going to be an offense next year, cause that would help.

I'm gonna guess some media hate since the media seems to have an anti Big 10 football bias and all we'd hear from the likes of Rome and Cowherd is how overrated we are.. But I'd love every minute of it. Being relevant in the national polls can only help.. Plus it's fun to start 9-0. :p

I love it...I am really pumped up about this season...especially with the schedule...it could be a VERY fun one to be a Hawk fan. I really am getting the same feeling I had going into the 2009 season (except that year...when I told people that summer I thought Iowa would win the Big Ten...I got laughed at...they didn't quite win it...but I was pretty dang close).

And that 2009 Iowa-OSU game will always be one of the top 3 games I have ever attended...just incredible.

I think its awesome to see our Hawks in the ESPN top 25! Now let's see if they can live up to it

This team feels like they're overrated and flying under the radar at the same time. Such a weird place to be as a fan.
