May, Oglesby each with 15 and Basabe chips in 10 with 4 in dbl figures, Iowa also forced 31 T/O, would love to have seen this game.

Iowa was up 86-37 with 9:30 or so to play when they subbed in Meyer, Ingram and Stokes. Could have been much worse for Quincy

Look for Gesell to lead this team in minutes and assists. Possibly in top three for scoring too.

any doubt about Gesell's ability to replace Cartwright? not in my mind the forced turnover is the biggest area that surprised me after all the doubt about the defensive ability of some

May 15 points in 17 minutes. Put up 10 shots, that's surprising. He must have had a lot of open looks, he's not a gunner.

Clemmons getting more minutes over Ingram is not a surprise

Fran said after game that he plans to redshirt one player, probably not two. That will likely be Meyer.

I'm thinking that Ingram gets redshirted this season.
I disagree I think it will be Meyer. If you watched the exhibition you could see that both didn't do much offensively but Ingram was much better on the defensive side of the ball, something Iowa has missed the last couple of years. Plus we have a log jam at the 4 position.

Not really sure what to take from this. Obviously iowa was the better team. But when a team is that much better can you say that the defense is good or improved as the competition isn't good at all?

Plus I think you can see that they were obviously trying to get other guys to work on things in the offense as marble took very few shots and he should lead the team in shot attempts.

Not sure what this says about the starting lineup going with mccabe. Will this be the lineup all year or not? I am not sure. I like it and think it is their best or second best starting lineup (I prefer ogelsby at the 2 and marble 3 with white at 4...but that is just a preference).

Can someone with better knowledge of the redshirting rules tell me what the status is with meyer and/or ingram redshirting? I thought meyer would be but can he if he plays in an exhibition?

Anyway just don't think you can read much into a game like this though it is always good to see iowa win, exhibition or not.

Yeah for sure if only one gets redshirted, it's going to be Meyer. He definitely needs the most work out of the two. It also ddoesn't help Ingram that he got to Iowa City much later than any of the other freshman. But for sure Meyer will get redshirted.

I think if fran could he would redshirt both of them but we are thin on the perimeter and the log jam at the posts causes meyer to redshirt.

I was really impressed with how hard Gesell plays, scraps like McCabe, definitely the most B1G ready out of the freshmen. Woody is a work in progress but draws a lot of attention from defenses and Clemmons did some nice things but looks hesitant.

The full court press worked very well. Our D in general looked solid. Granted it's only Quincy but 31 forced turnovers for 41 points off those turnovers is impressive. Looking forward to the opener Friday.
