Hawkeyes Offer Oliver Martin

He should make the Hawks sweat out his commitment the same way the Hawks made him wait for the offer...

Surely, he and his parents know how the recruiting process works and hurt feelings shouldn't go into the determination of what school to go to. Iowa offered him right around the time the other big schools did. Not like they just offered him yesterday.

Offered wide receiver likes Michigan State

Iowa City West wide receiver Oliver Martin has been one of the fastest rising prospects in the Midwest during the last month. Martin went from three Mid-American Conference offers to an Opening Finals invite and then offers from Michigan State, Iowa, Indiana, Wisconsin and BYU in a matter of weeks.

While Martin (6-1, 185 pounds) admits here is hometown pressure to go with Iowa – the school is just two miles from his high school – Michigan State has an advantage because of quarterback commit Rocky Lombardi. Martin and Lombardi played youth football and baseball together.

"I think he let them know he likes me a lot and I'm a good player, which I really appreciate, and I like Michigan State a lot as well," Martin said.

Oregon offered Martin on Wednesday, continuing the run of offers for the sure-handed recruit.

He says he may take all five official visits before deciding, but a summer decision could still happen.

"I'm thinking maybe before the end of the summer; before my senior year would be ideal, but it could go longer," he said.

To say that the feelings shouldn't go into determining it seems logical. Yet he is a teenager right?? Has anyone figured out what's in Juan Harris's head? I didn't think so.. Look I won't pretend to know anymore then anyone else. I just won't rule out what can be a human nature reaction that a teenager with options may do...

I figured that losing Lombardi was a huge deal but if Lombardi talks Martin into going to MSU I'm going to be seriously pissed off. Just imagine 2 Iowa studs tearing it up at MSU

I'm not concerned about Lombardi like some people are... unless it leads to Martin going to MSU. Martin is easily the bigger get of the 2 IMO.

I agree 100%. I've heard enough about Lombardi's Dad to know that I didn't really mind seeing him go to MSU. I don't think he'll be that great either. The thing is... MSU doesn't need a great QB to be a good team. They just need someone who can manage the game. Lombardi may be capable of being that guy, but he won't be anything special.

I don't like losing instate talent especially at the wr position, but... Chevin Calloway will shut him down if he did chose to go to another big10 school when we play against him so no worries. #wewantchevin

Could Harbaugh and the Wolverines be the next school to jump in? Sam Webb is very knowledgable about Michigan recruiting.

Glad he looks good in shorts and a t-shirt and 7 on 7, etc... Didn't impress me at all last year in 'actual' football games. (Not D-1 impressed) He could have made a big 'jump' but I want to see it transfer on to the field this fall before I care where he signs......I agree with whoever said that they thought Boyle was a better athlete and that Boyle will probably be a better receiver. The Hawks have some good receivers coming in and I don't think they're done, so I'm not worried about it, and if he wants to go sit on the bench with Rocky 'Dennis' Lombardi, good for him. Lombardi's dad is a d**k and my crystal ball says that Rocky will transfer to a smaller school after a couple years....They're like the Christiansens....

All of the offers save Michigan and Oregon came after he camped at those schools in pads, including Iowa.
