Hawkeyes Offer Oliver Martin

Good. Finally. I think Iowa will strike out on some of the other WR prosects so it will be good to secure his commitment if he chooses Iowa soon.

this kid is the best player on the field. My son played with him at West. He made varsity as a freshman. Great kid.Quite, goes about his business. Just throw the ball his way and he'll make the catch. I think he would be like Ed Hinkle. Pocession receiver that can make the outstanding catches. I am puzzled why it took KF so long to offer him. I sure hopes he picks Iowa.

He was the best player on the field? I saw him play 3 times last year (all lopsided loses), and he was pretty much invisible. Stick to letting ground balls go between your legs ol Billy Buck....Oh, what was I thinking? Because 'your' kid played with him, he must be great...lol. Thanks for your impartial and in depth analysis :) Just giving you hard time, but it's hard not to when someone starts their post with a unqualified definitive statement....

Seems like my old Dodgers teammate Bill Buckner would know a lot about Martin if his son played with him. I'm thinking he has offers from Wisconsin and MSU and reports are he tore up the camp he was at means he's pretty good.

I will stick to my statement. He is the best athlete/player I saw compete on the field. I am happy that my son had the opportunity to compete with a kid who I believe has a great future ahead of him. All the losses you saw were against the states best teams other than Dowling. And they didn't lose those games because of Martin. 3 of the 4 teams in the Iowa St finals West played.
Martin was the focus of the other teams defense and he still racked up 73 catches for 1,187 yards and 14 touchdowns as a junior last fall. He also had to play defense. He rarely ever left the field. His conditioning is unreal.

He is also one of the states best baseball players and swimmers. He has offers to play baseball from Iowa and Illinois. He is a great teammate and kid.

LOL, so a baseball player doesn't do anything in 3 games? That is completely shocking, and unimaginable, he must totally suck, because everyone knows that good baseball players go 3/4 at least every game. ;)

Usually, kick azz high school football players stick out like a sore thumb each game, IMO. This is just a general observation by me though as I have never seen the kid play. He obviously has teh build and potential looking at his offers though. Evaluating WR talent in states like Iowa can be challenging, I presume with more running than passing. So, I can see a WR playing a few quiet games. Again, often times need to evaulate the players athleticism, height, speed and potential at a position like this.

Evaluating a HS WR in Iowa could be challenging due to the nature of their competition. In his film he was 3-6 taller than most corners he went against. I would hazard a guess that they had him go against better corners in camp, reviewed the film and then offered. They may well have known they were going to offer ahead of time also- only they know for sure.
