I think he knew it was wrong. You and I both agree we weren't a fan of him doing that, I think Fran looks back and thinks the same thing

Well people are talking about it. It's easy for me to say that because I don't go to battle with those players every single day. Those players are his family. He fights for his players. I said that I didn't think it was a good move on his part, but I wasn't in his shoes, and if I was I could see myself doing the same damn thing and thinking afterwards "Ehh I don't really regret it, but I'll say whatever I need to say in order to get this stupid thing to blow over".

As an Iowa alumnus, I was embarrassed by Fran's actions last night. I'm glad he apologized for it today and it's one of those things we can chalk up to having an immediate emotional reaction to something.

And this is exactly why I told 56 this was gonna be a non story. I knew Fran was gonna come out and say "sorry" or he "regrets it". Story's over, just like I said it would be.

I agree, I don't think it was a good move on his part and it just brings negative attention to the team

"I feel bad about it. I have a lot of respect for Brian Jones," McCaffery told ESPN. "I wish it didn't happen. I wish I shook hands.

"It was a hard-fought game, and I was being protective of my players. Peter Jok has been getting beat up, and it was just a few plays in the last minute that I was frustrated about. But again, I think Brian Jones is a high-character guy and a heck of a coach. Assistant Jeff Horner is one of the best players ever to play here. I shouldn't have done it. I feel terrible about what happened."

Yeah, he feels terrible the situation occurred. I'm sure Fran didn't draw this up in the pregame. He didn't want their players to act like punks at the end of the game and he feels badly that they did act like that.

No it won't. It will be over by tomorrow after the Delaware game. Wanna bet on that, we won't see on national story on it after tomorrow?

The damage has been done

LOL, I'm sure we are still "feeling" the damage for the time Fran got two Technicals and looked to nearly "punch" a ref at Wisconsin......I'm sure we are still "feeling" the damage of when Fran slammed the chair at MSU

Dude your Clowness is a complete and total trip. This is 100 times less than those two and those two did absolutely zero damage. You have no clue about anything doing with college basketball.

All that negative attention Fran brings to Iowa is really weighing us down.

I mean I get that 56 is trolling, but I wish he was a Ok4P troll who actually did it well. I called this troll he was gonna pull before he even pulled it....so predictable, so pathetic.

If it was "wrong" or "right" who gives a flipping f*ck? I don't think it was "right" but Fran is who he is, this isn't gonna be the last time he is like this, it wasn't the first. Happens several times a year. I am comfortable with who Fran is and he is perfect for Iowa basketball "right" or "wrong". I'm willing to bet that nearly every damn coach in the country worth a crap has displayed Fran type of characteristics several times through out their career.

Getting ejected from that Wisconsin game was real bad

The whole point is this won't hurt Iowa or the program one bit. Fran is who he is, and that is emotional. Would I have done what he did? No I wouldn't have. I would have gone through the line and been a total dick to Brain Jones there, making snarky comments about them being coached by a classless idiot.

The whole FAUX OUTRAGE is silly. Iowa fans will say he either should or shouldn't have shaken hands, and then move on. 56 is a Clown troll and is trying to bang the drum of "negative press", "setting the program back"......just like I predicted and actually started this thread for to contain it here, rather than sprinkled throughout 5 different threads.

When did I say he set the program back because of last night? Negative press is never good, that's all I'm saying

All is good though!

http://collegebasketball.nbcsports.com/2016/12/21/video-iowas-fran-mccaffery-is-angry-again/

But this is coming from a coach who has a reputation for letting his anger get the best of him. Remember when he body-slammed one of the bench chairs in the Breslin Center? Or when he punched a clipboard out of an assistant’s hands? What about when he got himself ejected for bumping an official and cost his team a shot at a win at Wisconsin? Or when he popped off at Dan Dakich on his radio show? He’s also been especially hard on water bottles and suit jackets.

I say all that to say this: McCaffery is a good coach, but at this point his program is known for his in-game meltdowns and his team’s late-season meltdowns. At what point is it fair to question whether or not those two things go hand-in-hand?
