Having a rebuilding year at Iowa

It has nothing to do with the PG. It has much more to do with someone being a nitpicky little biatch who chooses to blow up every thread with the same trollish regurgitated nonsense.

I don't think revkev is trolling, I think he is just pointing out some factual information

Mike didn't have a single 20 point game his freshman year - Jordan has 2 in his first 10 games. Let's put this tired argument to bed with actual stats and facts.

Mike's career PER was 14.6. Bohannon's this year is 8.8. Yeah Bohannon has had a couple games where we scored a lot but he's shooting 30% from the floor and is a liability on defense. Matt Thomas isn't very good and it only took 4 minutes before we had to switch Bohannon off of him because he gave up 7 points right away and had to try to hide him on someone else

I want Iowa to do well, reach the top...and this can't be done without a talented PG...I am not sure why one would label it trolling...just the way it is...

I think JB might really improve...and be much more of a threat than MG ever was...in terms of scoring and pressuring the opposing defense.

I'm glad basketball you think basketball is only about offense

You said it wasn't even close, which is ridiculous - Mike wasn't an all star D player out of the shoot either. Not only is it close and comparable - I'd probably give the slight edge to Jordan and I think with what he's flashed so far his ceiling seems higher too.

It is clear to me that J Bo has reached his peak after less than a dozen games after high school. So, I think we should judge that he will never be much of a point guard, based on that overwhelming evidence. Thanks for letting us know!

Mike's defensive rating as a freshman was 95.4 which is better than anyone on this years team right now. Bohannon's defensive rating is 111.2 (which is absolutely terrible) and that is the second worst defensive rating I can remember us having behind only Ellingson this year who's 112.6

They aren't comparable in my opinion and the only way they will be is if Bohannon becomes serviceable defensively which he has a long ways to go or he averages 12+ ppg and is more efficient offensively

Mike had really good help defense and JB has horrendous help defense. I would have to assume that makes a huge difference in that rating.

Not really, better than this year which doesn't take much but it wasn't really good by any stretch of the imagination. I honestly don't understand how you could watch him play and try to defend his defensive abilities

You're arguing that Mike didn't have better help defense in the lane after he got beat than JB has had?

Mike didn't get beat often. Mike and Sapp were really good perimeter defenders their entire career

People complained on here all the time about Mike getting burned up until his senior year. It might have been exaggerated a bit due to him being white but people don't call out a great defender for being bad.

Then those people were stupid. Mike was a great athlete and was a very good defender. He had his limitations offensively and was the the opposite of clutch but he was very good at defense

Without exception most of the team is getting beat off the dribble, at will, this year. Perhaps the team now "wants" to play better defense. Helping out on defense, boxing out, getting in a good defensive position...hopefully are on the docket at practice.

If there is a will to learn, and put it into practice...this team can really improve. Long way to go.

The thing is, watch other games. People get burned off the dribble all the time everywhere. The difference was our help defense did less than nothing to help out.

What 6'1" white point guard comes into college as a lock down defender right away? I think you are remembering his senior year and assuming he played like that as a freshman.

Mike and Sapp were both 6'2. Sapp was known as a lock down defender right away because he was black but Mike couldn't be because he's white. That's not racist at all. Mike was a really good athlete

Last year, good teams sagged off our guards...because they couldn't and wouldn't shoot...Uthoff picked up the slack until they started playing in his face...then, it was a lot of MG driving into the lane...the trail of tears...season broke bad when Iowa's number was learned...Talented PG was the cure...we didn't have that option...and we still don't...

JoBo is a winner. He ended ISUs run with that ice cold nothing but net 3. So his PER can be less and his defensive rating can be what it is after 10 games. When s#!+ gets real, he is a go to guy already. Bet he won't clank his FTs when it matters.

Defensive metrics are bogus.....even Hollinger says so who created them.

Watch a game once, and you will see Bohannon is doing fine defensively, not great, but fine. Thomas scored a couple times on him early vs ISU, but then Jordan completely shut down Jackson (0-4 with 0 pts), Morris didn't score on Jordan when he guarded him and neither did Babb.

It is funny, I have only seen one other person ever bring up PER ratings.........I'm guessing you are his alt.

Thomas scored 7 points in the first 4 minutes against Bohannon and they had to switch him off of him. If you think Bohannon is doing fine defensively please explain to me why our AdjD is so bad. Bohannon is our worst defender by a large margin
