Having a rebuilding year at Iowa

is 100% acceptable and always will be. In fact, they are acceptable at EVERY program in the country including Duke, NC and Kentucky. The history of this program proves that every coach that's been here has had them or left before they could and anyone selling anything else is uninformed.

I agree, and I need to remind myself of that sometimes. I fully admit to being on the ledge after Omaha. The ISU game showed that there is hope. I understand a couple of the recruiting classes may not have been as good as we would have liked, but we have to remember where this program was, and how far back we have come. I truly believe that although we are taking a step back this year, we are setting up to be pretty damn good in the next several years. We just need to be patient.

Wisconsin fans aren't happy unless they are in the running for the conference and go deep into the tournament...it is called having a winning attitude and expectation...

A large portion of Iowa fans are nice and want the team to have fun...and get along...great place to coach, for long stretches of time.

A side note...I just don't see CW developing into an average PG...just doesn't have the tools, attitude, or body type...

JB more so with his limitations...

Would love to be proven wrong....

That we have a nice coach who hasn't been able to recruit a decent PG option is...well, nice, I guess...

Gesell and Bohannon are both decent point guards. He hasn't landed one that turned out great yet.

Actually Wisconsin struck gold with a HOF coaching hire. Now that he's gone, odds are they will have rebuilding years regardless of their attitude you think they have.

Maybe their AD is really good at finding the right coaches. But that has nothing to do with them having more of a winning attitude than iowa.

Fran has had one year where the team didn't look considerably worse in the non conference than they did in conference play. If this team follows the course of the other 6 years, they will make the NIT and very possibly only miss the NCAA because of the one bad loss.

That would be a pretty good rebuilding year for a team that is about to start 4 freshmen.

that's false - it's pretty comparable actually

Through their first 10 games

Mike - 20 TO's
85 pts
33 assists

Jordan
25 TO's
84 pts
47 assists

All while playing less minutes and having bigger offensive games

Mike didn't have a single 20 point game his freshman year - Jordan has 2 in his first 10 games. Let's put this tired argument to bed with actual stats and facts.

But his defense isn't as good, so you could at least make an argument that Mike was better overall. To say it's not close is ridiculous.

The other thing that stats won't show is what he does for the offense by spreading the floor so much, compared to what Mike did by allowing the defense to compact so much.

I don't remember how well Mike played defense his freshman year. That would be the only argument for saying Mike might have been a little better as a Freshman. Clearly he wasn't WAY better.

The point guard hate is out of control lately. JB may not be the 5 star player a lot of people on here expected Fran to bring in but how can you not feel some sort of optimism watching him? He has near unlimited range and he's shown plenty of flashes as a playmaker. There's no other starting caliber PG on this roster, so the alternative stance of hating on him cause he's not the player you envision is ridiculous.

There are just so many ways to win at basketball. So we don't have a point guard who can play lock down on the ball defense. That doesn't mean he's not capable of playing really smart team defense and putting out more effort to make up for his limitations. So we don't have a point guard who can penetrate. But we do have one who spreads the floor out past the 3 point line and is very good at feeding the post. Which is very important since he happens to be playing with 2 of our best post scorers in who knows how long. If we need someone to penetrate, why can't it be Moss? It doesn't have to be the point guard.

It has nothing to do with the PG. It has much more to do with someone being a nitpicky little biatch who chooses to blow up every thread with the same trollish regurgitated nonsense.

JB likes to shoot, can shoot, isn't afraid to shoot...he will put pressure on teams...he must be covered...

I'm glad basketball you think basketball is only about offense
