Has Iowa Ever Played Alabama?

Never said do it. I was just curious if Iowa ever played them at some point in the past. You would think playing for 120 yrs that teams would eventually cross paths.

You know, teams aren't continually strong all those years. Each team has some low points on occasion. Michigan coming out of theirs, Alabama had a low point prior to Saban taking the reigns, Florida has had low points.

We were 1 yard from running into that buzz saw back in 2015. Then we ran into the Stanford buzz saw instead.

Honestly, and I know this is going to sound somewhat crazy, but I think playing Alabama would have been a better matchup for the Hawks than playing Stanford in the Rose Bowl.

First off, Iowa going west is just not a good thing. Second, a player like McCaffrey just presents way too many match up problems...a more traditional pro-style team like Alabama is always a better match up for Iowa. Finally, going into the Alabama game means we won the B1G title game, which presents much more momentum potential than spilling your guts and losing on the final play of a 22 play drive.

Call me crazy, but I think it would have been a better game against Alabama than Stanford....
