ventured over to CYFAN to see what the deal is with Mckay? Another DNP/coaches decision. Is he not willing to adapt to the new coach and his style? ISU was killed on the boards by a bad TCU team. Thoughts?

He's a head case. We all knew the transfer thing would catch up to ISU eventually. It started last year with BJD. None of these guys knew they would eventually have a coach with some rules, limits, character expectations, etc. There is no question McKay should be starting and touching the ball every trip down the floor. Just ask him. This is just an outsider's speculation.

It's cause he gave a ****poor effort the previous game. Prohm did the right thing by benching him and effectively telling him he'll have to actually give 100% if he wants to play here on out.

I'm so glad that we apparently don't have such a prima dona on our team.

P.M.S.

Apparently when Fred was there the players didn't have any rules or limitations. We know Fred had an in with the cops to arrange deals for players. Prohm setting rules and players having accountability isn't going over with some. The genius that is McKay was listed on most mock drafts but after he started to let his attitude get in the way he's disappeared from draft boards.

I am assuming it is the same thought process as under Hoiberg. "We will just out score you." "We will turn it on when we have to turn it on."

What am I missing? Wasn't McKay one of the few that gave effort on the boards on the defensive end last year? Is it Proehm or McKay showing his true colors?

I'm guessing you haven't watched a ISU bb game this year

He was Big 12 defensive player of the year last season and averaged something like 9 boards a game. I don't know how you go from that to this season where he tries maybe half the time, and has been a liability on defense according to Cyclone fans.

I read where McKay was having some knee pain, and the coaches weren't to sympathetic with him. He skipped a practice; because, he said he needed to look after himself. I don't know the situation, but there isn't anything wrong with wanting your knee to be alright. I don't know what was causing the pain, but some people have low pain thresh holds. Iowa state was overrated at the beginning of the year, but they have a pretty good team. I think next year is going to be tough for them. I think Iowa has a pretty good team, but I had my doubts that they were one of the top five teams in the nation. On a given day Iowa or Iowa State could beat any team in the nation.

I went to Cyclone Fanatic and the McKay thread was pretty good. I think the bottom line is Prohm is showing the team that HE is king and he makes the rules. McKay is very talented but he IS a head case.

Sounds like McKay skipped a couple classes and Prohm is trying to make a point with him. Which is the right thing to do for a young man. I'm sure McKay looks at it like Prohm is riding him, but some day he'll look back and realize he's just trying to help him out.

I've also heard that Prohm is only keeping him on the team because he's been told to do so by higher ups. Which would obviously be Polturd. Things aren't good between Prohm and McKay. He's just trying to get through to him, but McKay is a headcase. His teammates kind of see both sides of it. They think Prohm is riding him too hard, but they also think McKay needs to man up.

I doubt McKay will ever look back on this and see that his coach was trying to help. He does not have the intelligence to make that connection. He will forever see Prohm as the guy who kept him being a bazullionaire in the NBA.

I don't know what to expect from Iowa next season, but I think ISU will really be hurting. They lose Niang, McKay and Nader for sure. I think it's very possible Morris goes pro, and there's no guarantee that Naz gets or plays a fifth season. They could potentially only return one starter in Thomas. If they had a bench this year that might not be as concerning, but they're potentially going to have Thomas and Burton as the only players on the team who really got minutes. Cooke and Ashton have not looked like guys who can contribute.

So Hoiberg was able to "get through" to him and Prohm isn't? I just find it odd all of sudden dude starts flaking out.
