Harry Van Dyne Discusses Iowa Offer, What’s Next

Don't have any idea what kind of competition he went up against, but he looks pretty quick for someone 6'5"
Any idea what his 40 time is?

Looks like he catches the ball extremely well with his hands. He may not have the top end speed to blow the top off the defense, but he doesn't seem to be afraid to go over the middle and he does seem to have sneaky smooth speed. Kind of like McNutt.

He may not say it is a big deal, but being able to play with his older brother his entire career, that can only help.

I wondered about the competition too, but it has to be decent in KC, doesn't it?

Would Iowa take all 3 of Dyne, Smith-Marsette, and Martin if they were all interested?

At this point, we just need guys who can get open and catch the goddamn ball. Take whoever we get, and hopefully a couple of them can work out.

Everyone needs to take a deep breath, they have nothing at QB. The previous staff was scouring the JUCO ranks for a QB because they didn't think any on the current roster were good enough. Hawks offered late anyway, would have been nice to get, but he looked good against mediocre competition... Moving on!

They also flipped an Oregon verbal this weekend. Fella had an offer from ND as well. A legacy recruit but the previous MN staff couldn't get it done.

Kirk doesn't understand the people element of recruiting. Maybe he'll show he better understands than he has in the past when we see who he hires.

Yep. Moving on to Iowa walk-ons who get completely outplayed as seniors by actual talent. In other words, the Kirk Ferentz school of recruiting.

PJ Fleck has done what everyone on this board complains about Kirk doing... he poached Western Michigans entire class of "MAC" recruits. So now he gets a 2-3* kid and we offered a few days ago and he's a legend?

Hey he was a great hire for them and will do a good job, but their own fan base isn't sold on him. He's got a lot of work to clean up that tire fire!

Could say the same thing about AJ... his offers weren't to shabby. Legacy or not and Kirk did get it done right out of the gate.

The reason Fleck has to poach the MAC with one week on the job is a lot different than the reason Kirk has to after 18 years as the head coach at the same program. By the way, our last 3 star verbal was 5 month's ago so PJ's got us beat there too. At this rate I'm waiting for the MAC to start poaching us.
