Handshake Lines Moving Forward

Get rid of him, Fry. The guy is just gumming up the discussions with incendiary bullshit to try and get a rise out of people. We get it, people have strong feelings on race. Work it out with your therapist or your GED coach, not here. The rules are not difficult to follow.

Knight said that to Settles but he did appreciate Moe, an Indiana native, as well. He waited until everyone was in place for the opening tip of Moe's past game vs Indiana, then walked onto the court and shook hands with Moe.

Probably just in time. That was the game where Todd Jadlow inbounded the ball off Kent Hill's face and Hill caught him with a partial swipe. Hill was ejected and Davis went berserk. A technical foul was also called on Bill Jones because he left the bench to try and restrain Hill. I don't think Knight or Davis were in any mood to shake hands with anyone when that game was over.

Kent Hill, as has been well documented on these boards, was one tough hombre. In fact between Hill, Moe, Horton and Michael Reaves few people messed with Iowa. But Todd Jadlow was one of the meanest players to ever suit up for Indiana. A full scale brawl between him and Hill may have gone on for a while.
I do remember that inbounds play w Jadlow and Hill, surprised it didnt break his nose- it wasn't exactly a "touch" throw..........

Famous tale of members of that badass Iowa basketball team fighting with and chasing Iowa wrestlers through downtown Iowa City bars. One of the teams was ranked No. 1 nationally at the time, the other No. 2.
All true, and Gable had to ban the wrestlers from the downtown scene for a while.

Football at the college and pro level doesn't really have a handshake line. The game ends and players seek out who they may want to shake hands with. The head coaches usually do the same and once in a while (cough, Harbaugh) there might be an incident. But, there doesn't seem to be a need for a formalized hand shake line.

The NBA is the same. During the regular season, there's a wave between coaches and sometimes they shake hands. Some of the players will seek out others to say something. At the end of a playoff series, there's usually a coming together of players/coaches to show appreciation (not at the level of the NHL, but some level). But, no real handshake line.

It is amazing that the one place you never seem to have an issue in a handshake line is the NHL. Teams spend a 7 game series hitting each other at top speeds and getting into scrums at the net ... yet have the ability/acumen to stop at the end to slow down and shake the hand of every opponent. And, the starting goalies and captains usually are towards the end of line and they spend time talking to their counterparts. It's really cool when you think about it.

Thats because there is nothing wrong with handshake lines its called professonlism and sportsmanship. 99.9% of handshake lines nothing bad happens but its that .1% everyone thinks the world is ending.

My senior year of high school one of my teammates punched an opponent in the mouth in the handshake line. The whole game there were constant fights. Surprisingly nothing happened besides some finger pointing and talking.
