Hail Hail to Michigan the Cheaters of the West

After a long NCAA investigation, Michigan has admitted violations and will impose penalties on itself. The NCAA will follow with additional penalties.

Nothing this outlaw program does surprises me anymore. Rodriguez should be fired immediately. Michigan should not be eligible for conference title or a bowl game in the fall. Where there is smoke there is fire. They cheat and they need to pay the price.

Michigan - have you no shame?

A once proud program finds itself in the gutter. Unbelievable.

Michigan has the perfect out if it wants it. With a crappy season, Michigan will fire Rodriguez and won't have to pay him off because they can say he violated rules.

Refresh my memory...weren't the violations just that they practiced too much. My understanding is that virtually every program does this but this just got leaked by disgruntled players who were probably angry with the new regime.

I'm not saying that Michigan isn't a dirty program...I wouldn't know one way or the other...but (if it's just practice time) these violations don't seem like anything that I would get too worked up about.

No, it was multiple violations.

Apparently five compliance people were spending illegal time working with players, to name another violation.

The NCAA is also citing Rodriguez for "disregard" of NCAA rules.

This is developing into an important story.

This definately tightens the noose around Rich Rod's neck. If Michigan doesn't improve immesely this year, he will be shown the door.

Just like Zook at Illinois and Brewster at Minnesota, I say keep Rodriguez at Michigan.

In sports, NOTHING is worse than a cheater. So within a few years it is brought to light that U of Michigan has cheated in basketball and football, geez. Delaney, slam the hammer down on these fools before the NCAA does.

NO way, we want them down for good. I want Rich Rod there as long as he wants to be. It is a MUST win game at the Big House this year. We need to build a winning streak against them while they are down and take advantage of it and possibly snag a recruit or 2 from them as well!

HawKCP -

Every program had their own players practice more on a VOLUNTARY BASIS and the coaches have nothing to do with it. I imagine that is why Ferentz has the team form the leadership council ... that way the players can self-police themselves and force eachother to work as hard as possible in the off-season.

The fact that RichRod was enforcing it with his own cronies and the fact that that put them over the allowable number of assistant coaches are among the infractions.

If some of the players were benefitting from what is effectively contact with coaches in a practice setting ... that is also a no-no ... because that means that the players are benefitting from extra coaching hours.
