No doubt. I think the only reason they put us at 5th is to have Stanford between us and OSU to help avoid temptation from the Rose to pick OSU anyway.

I doubt they would have. With the emphasis that the committee places on conference championships, I very well think NC could've snuck in. I don't understand the love fest over Stanford one bit. They lost to a NW team that we crushed and lost to an Oregon team that is having a down year. They won the weak Pac-12, whoop-ti-do!

Yep. And the committee basically said that UNC won't make the playoffs the week before when they put them at #10 and said they played 2 FCS schools. No way were they jumping Stanford or OSU or Iowa for that matter.

I think UNCs schedule is far too weak. Stanford probably would have been in as Pac-12 champs

I think it depends on who would have lost. NC wins and they may have taken #4. Bama loses and then the SEC would have been shut out. It would have been between us and Stanford at that point. They very well could have flipped a coin at that point.
