Gundy, Oklahoma State agree to restructured deal

Nobody should give up their market-driven salary because of guilt, outside-pressure, etc., but...

KF has more money than he or his progeny need. If he coached 2 more years, and announced that half his salary was going to the children's hospital, and the other half was going to the Swarm collective, his legacy would be cemented. Hard to think of a better way to spend his money than that.

As far as I know, while schools cannot directly pay players yet (pending finalizing the lawsuit) I am unaware of any rule prohibiting a school from "donating" to their school's collective.

Coaches have sat at the top of this food chain (alone) for far too long. The highest paid employee in every state is the head coach of their football or basketball team. To be clear, you are worth what anyone is willing to pay you, but coaches have gotten too much of the pie. I have no issue with a trendline that sends less money to coaches and more to players.

Frankly, the Gundy sitch in OKCST might be a glimpse into our future. If KF goes 3-9 next year, this might be our headline a year from now. Uggg

I thought schools couldn't officially participate with NILs
Not sure of the rules governing NIL if any, but if he's donating his contract or signing it over to the collective wouldn't that simply make him an individual making a contribution. Despite the fact that he's the head of the program he's technically not acting on behalf of the university or behind closed doors.

Who knows though. With the way NIL has evolved I don't know that this or anything really surprises me anymore in terms of what can/can't be done.
