Greg Davis was a terrible hire

Yeah yeah yeah I know all of it falls on ferentz. It's whoever you don't care for. I can't stand Greg Davis just like you don't like ferentz. If it's ferentz I don't know why we have a Greg Davis. Why doesn't ferentz call the plays.

Just stop. You think firing Davis will change Kirk's philosophy? Read Jon Miller's piece and maybe your IQ will jump all the way up to 71.

Is there anyone on this staff that has a national title ring, has been involved in some of the biggest college football games in this sport against the best teams, and has worked with some of the premiere athletes?

Wait there is actually one guy who has but the offensive problems that have plagued this program for years and years are his fault. This is definitely his vision for this offense that has seemed to morph more and more into something that looks like the offense under the previous OC.

Prior to his arrival we were known in this conference and nationality for having offenses ranked in the top 20 in the nation. We always scored points on our opponent in the second half and fourth quarter to close out and seal wins. We had no problems winning close games because the offenses would always bail the team out when a score or a long drive was needed.

Yes, the OC is the problem.

Plays getting in slow, a strict short passing playbook, a regressing QB, and a offense that doesn't fit the players Iowa has.

The only reason he had success at Texas was because of the athletes they were able recruit. Iowa will never get those type of player.

Finally, the playcalling was awful today late in the 4th quarter. That alone is grounds for being run out of town.

There was a reason why Greg Davis was fired, and nobody else wanted him. He would have never been hired had Iowa not done it. He's terrible. Ask any Texas fan.
I nailed it again.

I can't even remember who KF talked to about the job. i can't remember the rumors or anything about it. Who was the short list? Who actually interviewed? Was GD his first choice? I do remember some fans clamoring for Eric Campbell. Thinking about that now, good lord, that would have been a trainwreck.

Tom Moore from the Colts was rumored to be up for the job but he didn't want it.

Other than that I think it was a knee jerk hire where nobody else was interviewed.

And now it will be compounded by poor recruiting at the skill positions. Why would any 4 or 5 star offensive kid come to Iowa. I can't think of 1 who wants to play in a system where you might get 3 possessions/half and only score 1 or 2 times a game against anybody even bad teams.

The kid Davis recruited for his offense transferred too. If that isn't a red flag I don't know what it. He was specifically brought here to run Greg Davis's offense and he's now as Texas Tech.

I recall Texas fans beeotching about Davis's crappy short passing game before we hired him. But this on Ferentz because we've been seeing this horse crap for a decade. This is turning into lickliter's offense as being enjoyable to watch. No primetime games, geez I wonder why?

Davis was HATED by Texas fans even when they were winning. Vince Young does't come along very often either to bail you out.

Texas has a goldmine to recruit from and Davis got fired. What does that tell you?

ISU ran this offense and beat Iowa. It can work.

The problem is that both the KOK and GD style offenses require near-perfect execution. College kids can't be expected to do that game in and game out.

The only time these offensive styles work is when Iowa has had extraordinary talent at QB, OL, RB and TE or WR.

I don't see a Greene, Tate/Banks/Stanzi, or Bulaga on O. I see a lot of Brownlees, Christiansens and O'Meara's...

100% true still.
