Greg Davis Replacement

Things I think KF will look for if he has to hire a new OC:
-Experience in a balanced, but run-first, offense.
-Experience as a QB coach (this was KOK's and GD's position responsibility)
-College coordinator or head coach experience
-A guy who will be relatively traditional in style
-A guy who has experience with zone blocking schemes

The last point might get overlooked by some, but I think it played a big role in the hiring of GD. All that said, and given Ferentz's affinity for the Patriots, here's the guy I think would be right in line with KF:

Ask Jon Gruden why he doesn't coach anymore when he could likely make three times the money.

Which would you rather do, get paid to sit in a booth and comment on football games with zero pressure other than trying to remember not to say "Um" and avoid coughing into the mike, or take a year-round job where people watch and question every move, hate your guts unless you're perfect, and you have to go to practices and workouts constantly?

Chuck Long is beloved by this entire state, at his age he's not going to take a chance of pissing his legacy away if he sucks at the job. Everyone in Iowa other than proudhawkfan21 wants Greg Davis' head on a plate. No way would Chuck Long take on that kind of pressure.

John gruden and chuck long are apples and oranges. Gruden gets paid several million dollars for MNF, financially coaching isn't worth it. However if you are confident and are competitive being the OC would be a much better job l and if you are successful your legacy will be even bigger than before. It's all about drive..
