Here is my thoughts from the matches, I think I am pretty much done one the "other" board and will be spending more time here.

125: McDonough, gets a A. I can't wait to see him and Escobedo go at it. This is the only matchup that MIGHT cause him some problems. But he dominated last night.

133: Dennis gets a A+. That a boy Diseal!! GREAT WIN FOR HIM!!! To bad he didn't get that last second of riding time and he wouldn't have to had beat him in ot. Gable's comments afterwords were classic Gable.

141: Marion gets a solid B. You could tell he was a bit tenitive last night but still got the job done. Might have left some points outthere but it was a nice win for him after Friday night. HE IS OUR GUY AND NEED TO SUPPORT HIM!!!!

149: Metcalf gets a A. Brent Metcalf enough said!

157: Janssen gets a D. While he won the match he was lucky it was not sent to ot due to his lack of offense. I need to retract my statement about him being the guy, I am leaning more now towards Kerr.

165: Morningstar gets a B-/C+. Another wrestler that left some points out there but still got the job done. He will always wrestle this way and I have gotten used to it. Not a bad match but he could do better.

174: Borschel gets a solid A. He also left some points but it wasn't his fault. Ref was terribly incosistant last night. Jay is "as cool as the other side of the pillow", and I have NO doubts about him coming home from Ohmaha a Champ!

184: Keddy gets a solid A. Might have been the best he looked in awhile. Solid win and again he left some points out there but again was not his fault.

197: Lofthouse gets a solid B. Another quality win for Luke, he is slowly getting better each time out. He is gaining confidence and this mat time is making him better.

Hwt: Danimal gets a solid B. Still needs to work on conditioning a bit but a pretty solid win for him. When he gets his lungs under him he would/will pin him.

As a team I will give the Hawks a solid B+. A few of the wrestlers brought the team down from a A, especially Janssen. But to get another shutout is Awesome!
 
I agree, but I think Joe Slaton will be back very soon, so Marion is not our guy,............ yet.

You probably would be better off staying over here nuthugging FF and USAF and stealing their info as using it as your "inside" info.

You come across as the biggest Hawk wrestling poster insider wannabe.

Wow, no need to be rude! And it has been made very clear, many times, on here that Slaton is done. So unless you have fact to back that up, your post was pretty much pointless and rude.

I haven't been on the "other" site's wrestling board in quite a while. Definitely not what it used to be. I didn't see any posts by Brian Finley. Anyone know what happened to him?
 
First off I want to say that this forum should be for fellow Hawk fans to voice their opinions without being attacked, if you want to do that there are other forums for that. Also anybody's contribution is welcomed here including differing opinions, that's what makes it so fun. As for Tobini, he is not riding anybody's anything, he follows the sport closely and I have had many great wrestling conversations with him. First off he is a great Hawkeye fan and I know that he wants to see Joe out there, as does everybody, as long as he has earned the right to be the guy. So in short I just want to thank everybody for bringing their opinions to this forum, but lets keep the personal attacks in check.
 
USAFhawk fan pretty much summed it all up there. This board is not for personal attacks on fellow posters or any other fans or wrestlers. We want this to be a great place to voice your opinions and views on the wrestling world and we have a great group of posters, including Tobini. We are always looking for more people to join the conversation but lets keep it civil!

Like was already stated Tobini is a great fan of the sport, and the Hawkeyes, and I wish that all fans had his passion for the sport and for this team!! I have known him for years and we have discussed wrestling at length many times and often. He knows what he is talking about and adds a lot to this board...
 
Also, USAFhawk, myself, Tobini, and in my memory no poster over here has said that they don't want Joe back. If he has earned the right then I think that I can speak for most of us that we do want him back.

We have just stated some facts from some very reliable people that his career with the Hawks is likely over. If it gets set straight and he becomes the guy then I'll cheer for him. For now I'm behind Montell Marion and Dan Leclere because they are the guys that we know that the Hawks have for the rest of the year...
 
WOW!!! Don't know if I should even reply to this but here goes anyways.

First let me tell you that I WILL support and cheer for Joe IF he is cleared. In NO WAY have I tried to degrade him!!! To be honest with you he was my wife's 2nd favorite wrestler 2 years ago and you have no idea how HAPPY I was when I saw him trout out against isu last year!!! I absolutely love what he brings to the table. I have had numerous opportunities to talk with Joe and he seems to be a decent kid! I saw him at the races in WL and had a nice talk with him!!! I was just saying Marion is our guy until/if Joe gets cleared and I hope he does for him.

Thanks, to those who have backed me up so to speak!! I felt like a piece of Sh... when I read that and REALLY appreciate the positive stuff some of you have said. THANK YOU!!!!

If you got a credible source on this then spill it or you are being exactly what you just accused Tobini of being.
 
I doubt if my credible sources would appreciate me spreading confidential information I get from them all over the internet. I would never do that out of respect for them. I could say plenty more than this about the subject.

My sources are extremely reliable. If this means anyting, i'll be making the trip with the team and parents out to Utah Valley next weekend.

I shot and cleaned pheasants with Luke Eustice, Coach Brands, and Mike Zadick last fall......

I think it's safe to say that I post very reliable material, without overstepping my bounds and posting things that those who trust me with their info wouldn't want spread on the internet.

I suppose I came across a little harsh on Tobini, but it seems he does try to use others info as his own and come across as though he's some sort of insider. I appreciate and don't doubt his passion for Iowa wrestling. I apologize.

It's also kind of frustrated me that the 2 "insiders" on this board have been ruling out Slaton, when this has not been the case. Joe has been dealing with an ongoing process and nothing was EVER official one way or the other. Coach Brands, the rest of the staff, several of his professors, and even Gary Barta are really going to bat for Joe in this matter. I am very optomistic that Joe will get this cleared up and be our 141lber. come tournament time or sooner.
 
57 straight dual wins and a 37-0 Big Ten shutout and they recieve a B+? Thats pretty harsh. What does it take to get an A?
I'm no expert and am just a casual fan who never wrestled, so my opinion is pretty worthless. It just seems like they deserve better than a B+ considering they are far and away the best squad in the country.
BTW I really appreciate everyone's analysis. I helps us unedumacated fokes enjoy our hawks more gooder.

was a great effort by the Hawks and have to agree with Tobini on the B+ as a team overall. The reason it was not an A is because it was not a COMPLETE solid effort up and down the lineup. There was not one match on Sunday night that the Hawks shouldnt of scored bonus points call me nuts but that is including Mr. Dennis. If you asked him he would most likely say the same thing there was more than one time where if Dennis gets adjusted just a little bit Gomez is on his back. Janssen and Mstar need to open up the offense, I know this sounds like a broken record with Mstar but there is so much potential there. Marion gets in so deep but does not finish near enough. Thats just a few thoughts from my view.

So to answer the question above "what does it take to get an A" put 10 guys on the top of the stand in Omaha.
 
BossTom I am not saying or have I said that your information is not true. Since you hang out with the coaches then you have definitely heard their "side" of things. As we all know there is more than one side of things to this story, if there wasn't Joe would be wrestling right now. I have no reason not to believe what Coach says and if he believes Joe should be wrestling then maybe he should. On the other hand my "source" who I know very well and think very highly of has said all along that Joe was a long shot to make it back when everybody was saying he was coming back for sure. Well so far the source has been on the money as far as Joe not wrestling. As far as nothing ever being official, that is not the truth, it was official and is now going to an higher authority, so the book isn't totally closed yet. If everybody would stop and think about it for a bit, if everything pointed to Joe coming back wouldn't it already have happened. I mean we are in February, 3 weeks into the semester and still no Slaton. If Joe really would have done what he was suppose to he would of been back. Now some are saying it's some lower authority adminstrator that has hung this up.......really for three weeks? With guys like Brands, Barta and Mims going to bat for Joe would it really take this long? I think we are dealing with a little more than just a single administrator here. All it comes down to is what Joe didn't or did do?
 
Boss Tom, Isn't that what you are doing? Taking what someonelse told you and putting what you feel is ok to put on the net? I totally understand what you are saying about what to say and what not say. I have other sources that are Not FF and USA so please don't drag them under the bus so to speak. I respect your info and appreciate it!

Look before this turns into a bickering war lets all just realize that we all are knowledgeable posters and just get a long.

Have fun in Utah with the team as we might get a chance to stay in the at the same motel as the Hawks at Nationals.
 
Agree Tobini. Aren't you a member of the H.A.W.K. club though? We are, and reserved our room with the team quite awhile back. The H.A.W.K. has always given us an option to book a room at the team hotel.

It's nice being in the same hotel for the after parties so it's easier to stumble back to your room.:D
