gotta pull for Nebby and PSU

Not if a team beats every team in their division. They only count when there is a three way tie. Say if two way tie with Iowa and Wisky and Iowa beat Wisky, Iowa would win the division even though have 2 non-div losses. It's pretty clear cut until 3 teams tie. If only down to 2 teams, it's what they did in the division and head-to-head. That's the way I read it.

That's correct assuming Iowa and Wisky have the same conference record. If Iowa wins out and Badgers only lose to Hawks, they go to B1G title game.

exactly what I've been trying to say round these parts the last week. I honestly was just about to concede being incorrect and that would have been unfathomable :)

Damn it! I always get so close.

Back in my youth some buddies and I went to sneak in the Country Club pool one night for a late night swim and ended up he cops were staking it out. They chased us and I got one latched on me chasing me thru a hay field. Anyway I finally gave up and walking back to the squad car, he states "Boy, if you would have ran another 10ft, I would have given up." Would have saved my dad a trip to the cop shop at 11:30 at night if I would have just kept going!

Made me think of that story.

I literally was in the middle of typing a "man, I can't believe I didn't know that, what a dummy" response and then I got a lil notification that there was a new post in the thread and I backed out and looked at it. So close. I hate Nebraska - they are probably going to lose any way... but IMO - if we wanna have any meaningful football over the next couple of months, I'm pulling for em.

Bottom line, if Iowa wins out, all they then need is the winner of the Wisc- Neb game to lose 1 more game besides the loss to Iowa . Then Iowa wins the division.

So if wisc beats Neb, and Wisc later loses to Mich, then iowa wins the division if Iowa wins out.

absolutely - but with TOSU still on the schedule, it's a tall order - I have 0 doubt that Nebraska is gonna lose more games, Wisconsin - not so much. They win Saturday and it's gonna be a pretty insurmountable lead they have the rest of the league.

yeah, WU's remaining tough games after this week would be IA and UM, back to back with IA first. Many, WUs has a schedule tailor made to win the west. But if kNU wins, they still have jNW, OSU, IA, PSU and MN. Iowa would only need to win out and win the west and 7-2.

X5.

I don't know why, but I just can't. We already have two losses, so really there is no bearing on us if they win or lose this year. Iowa isn't going to get invited to the playoff with two losses but still controls their own destiny as far as winning the West.

To be honest, I enjoy watching Nebby lose and implode too much.

How can you say Iowa controls its own destiny when they are two games back in the loss column.

Do you actually follow sports????

How does that work with cross division games? Iowa hasn't played a West team yet. Won't they win the division if they beat Wisky and win out?

All the games count not just the games against your division opponents.

All the games so the hawks are two games behind Wisky and Nebby.

Nope. Nobody is as smart as you.

Did you even read the rest. YOu would understand the logic.

Not trying to say I am some football genius but these divisions have been in play for quite a few years and there is only one set of W-L columns which is all Big Ten games. Same way in NFL, MLB, NBA, NHL and other Power 5 conferences with divisions.

The hawks would have to play lights out on offense and get some breaks to lose none or only one game the rest of the way. Beating Wisky is worth 1.5 wins so crazier things have happened. But I never thought I would see 12-0 in my lifetime.

I expect at best the hawks will have 2 losses, probably 4 or 5, but it would be awesome even if they lose just one more. Get that offense moving and since they have nothing to lose now just open it up.

Well PSU stong win helped maybe take some luster from the kittie cats, a Sparty win makes the hawks two losses not so bad, ISU win now looks much better (I can see OU looking ahead in the first half but they lost it in the second half), Purdue and Minny is a turnover error prone mess but still pulling for Minny to lose and go to 0-2,

Of course Iowa has to keep on winning to get a good bowl, etc.

Nebby got back in it with an 80 yard td pass but then whoops next play the black shirts part and let wisky runner go 75 yards for td, haha, nebby not helping us much
