Gotta Love the RPI

Just a quick reminder, per the "experts" the SIXTH place Big Ten team is WORSE THAN the seventh and eighth place Big Ten teams (each of whom lost to the sixth place team) and it is worse than the fifth team in the A-10 and Mountain West. Argh.

Because I'm not starting another thread and I'm sure it's been mentioned at some point but I'm doing it anyways.

Iowa is up to 29 on Kenpom, almost top 25!

You misunderstood my question sir. Does the general basketball fan want to see a bunch of mediorce basketball teams from a crap conference forge their invitation to the big dance only to be shown the door by the bouncer shortly after arriving? I don't.

It didnt take the bouncers long to boot out those fakers from the Most Worst Conference.

Wisky and Pitt are in the top 10 Kenpom. Maybe it's possible that Kenpom overrates some teams as well.

It's well known that KenPom overrates Wisconsin. He even has a blog entry about why I believe.

But, yeah, no rating system is perfect but some are better than others. Iowa's so high because they play close games against good teams which is pretty much the same as a win in his formula from what I gather. His system is more or less designed to predict future results as opposed to rating where teams are now.

I am sure that is possible but neither of those teams were considered bubble teams either. Bad example don't you think?

It overrates Wisconsin because it has a defense component and Wisconsin gets away with holding and handchecking during the entire B1G season. I guarantee that 46 they put up today would have been enough to keep them in at least half their games in the Big Ten because the refs swallow their whistles around Sir Bo.
