gotta give it to Oges...

JO shot with good rhythm tonight. This has been his problem. In many cases, his rhythm is just too slow. Rhythm needs to be exactly the same on each shot. Kid needs to get out a metronome and shoot to it.

I used to tell kids to think of one of their favorite songs and shoot in rhythm of the song playing in their head. That would keep the motions about as consistent as they can get for a high school kid.

I was pumped to see Josh hit a a couple big shots last night but i was more impressed with his passing, a couple of those assists were lasers through tight windows, hopefully this will be a confidence booster for him going down the stretch.

The crowd was really on him early for passing up open shots. Was happy for him that he finally let it fly. If he could get out of his own head and just shoot like he's capable, that makes us much tougher. Was hoping Minnesota was his coming out of this. Maybe it was last night??

How many of his 3 pointers in his career have come right in front of the Iowa bench, the FT line extended to the corner? Seems he hits a lot from there. I am guessing the shooting % from that area is quite high.

I will suggest an oldie but a goodie by vanilla ice...... "Ice ice baby". Lol

We miss Marble this year?

I do think we miss Dev at times. He was a heck of a player. Last year's team may not have collapsed in this year's B1G. There was a large exodus of talent the past 2 seasons from the league.

If Utoff & Jok had been able to produce last year like they are this year we would have been outstanding all year. Dev carried the mail while some of the guys from this year's team matured and developed.

Now this year's team has done very well, competed in almost every game and been a lot of fun to watch. We do have better balance as well this year.

I know we will miss AW and certainly GO, as well as Josh. What really scares me is the senior night when U, Woody, Gesell and Sap say goodbye. But, yeah, I know...that is college basketball and someone else will step in and up.

Josh Ogelsby was much needed, since Jok gave up on the game.
Josh played really well on Defense and Offense, tonight.

GO HAWKS

I don't think Jok gave up. He struggled a bit shooting after a good start, got in foul trouble on a couple mistakes, never found the groove.

To think we don't miss marble is naive. I agree with everything. Big 10 is down, and the other players are another year older and better. Marble was NOT the problem last year. He took undeserved heat.

I'm not putting Marble down. But this team is just as good if not better. Other guys absorbed his minutes and are producing. For instance Uthoff took 168 shots last year including the 2 postseason games. He's already taken 286 shots this year. There's no way he gets 286 shots with Marble on the team. I don't think we miss Marble...and this is in no way a slam on Marble.

Teams change, and players develop each year, that is the great thing about college sports. If we added a Marble to THIS YEARS TEAM, we would be scary good. Clemmons, Uthoff, Gesell, Jok, Gabe, Woody are all light years ahead of where they were last year.

Oh lord, here we go. The Oglewinkel rah rah fan club is at it again. Let's not make his performance out to something that it wasn't. He scored 6 points on 2-2 shooting. He had a nice little 2 minutes spurt to end the 1st half and then a crazy looking 3 that dropped midway through the 2nd half.

He still passed up on several open looks that a 'shooter' wouldn't have passed up on. He didn't play flawlessly on O or D but he was a nice contributor. We didn't win that game because of him.

Clemmons, Olaseni, Jok, White, and Uthoff had as many (mostly more) points that Oglewinkel.

Look, I'm not saying he played bad because we all know that he didn't, what I'm saying is the kid finally had a game where his shot dropped for once. His minutes still need to be limited. When he plays > 17 minutes we are 11-7 which includes a whole bunch of creampuffs early in the season. In B1G play when he plays > 17 minutes we are 4-5. When he plays <= 17 minutes we are 5-1.

We would be battling it out with Wisconsin right now eith Marble. I also think last year's team would be the clear cut 2nd place team in this year's B1G.

I don't see any point to this "if we had Marble" debate so I will step aside. I like what Uthoff and Jok are doing with their additional minutes and shot attempts.

I like the way the 5 starters and 4 rotation players are playing together as a team. Better communication, not looking for the go-to guy, but rather trying to set up the best shot available in their half-court offense. And the D is outstanding. I love the way McCaffery switches up his defense and how he mixes in pressure and trapping defense in 3/4 to full court presses.

This team is better than last year's team.

Because it's a team.
