Good Read and Insight into Davidson Game

So many people apparently do lots of drugs. Iowa is long, with athleticism... those tiny guards for Davidson are in trouble.

Looks like the boys better come ready to play....simple defense, DON'T LEAVE YOUR MAN..............I never did see any drives and kick outs too much...hell, let'em go inside, just defend the perimeter like hell and we kick their a$$

LOL He's comparing Davidson to Iowa State...No comparison.

Olaseni and Uhl will probably steal some of Adam's minutes at the 5. Jok, White and Uthoff will be impossible for them to guard on the other end. Gesell and Clemmons should be able to finish at the rim whenever they get there.

He also failed to compare this game to the Davidson vs. North Carolina game. Meeks is 6'9" and 280 lbs. He played 31 minutes and scored 19 points. Justin Jackson is 6'8" and 190 lbs. He played 28 minutes and scored 18 points. Paige played only scored 13 points in 33 minutes. Carolina had 21 assists and 9 TOs.

Kalinski was 2-9 from 2 and 2-9 from 3 and scored 12 points. Aldridge (6'7") led Davidson with 25 points in 34 minutes...was 6-10 from 3. Davidson was out rebounded by 9.

They aren't built to play from behind, much like Indiana. It may be back and forth, but they won't be able to answer the runs. Desperation = bigger hole. Go Hawks.

Fran has some flexibility and Woody just might not bring a lot to this matchup. A lineup of Gesell, Clemmons, Jok/Ogs, Uthoff and White would still pose matchup problems for Davidson defensively, and let Iowa keep up with the 4 guard offense of Davidson at the same time. Hopefully we will see a lot of this on Friday.

Iowa's length should bother Davidson so Iowa should be able to contest most shots. Also, Davidson is not a good rebounding team sec to all the 3's and their size, so I suspect when a shot goes up, all players will just start heading back on D to prevent transition points.

Iowa should be able to get offense points and offensive rebounds. So, the garbage points may make up for some of the 3's the Wildcats make. Also, Iowa should be able to get some inside looks or lobs to White due to the undersized Wildcats, which could lead to fouls. I say Iowa will make more FT than Davidson shoots which will also make up for the 3's that might be made against Iowa. Iowa has been playing pretty good D, except for the Penn State game.

I just think there are more areas to make up points than what Davidson has for options. Again, I think Iowa has enough athletic length to make it difficult for Davidson.

Iowa is a lot of things. Athletic is not one of them.

Iowa is pretty athletic for their size. Davidson shouldn't be able to hang with Iowa for very long. Gonzaga plays after Iowa so they won't have as much time to prepare if they both advance.

Guess we'll just have to agree to disagree. Athletic guys can create their shots. Iowa scores with ball movement, player movement, and good passing. Very rarely do you see guys creating on their own.

The difference between Iowa State and Davidson is the quickness for the clones.

Iowa State has multiple players that can take the ball to the rack at will(Niang and Morris killed us in IC for example). None of Davidson's players really are quick or look to take the ball to the basket. The only player that will try to take our players one on one might be the point guard Gibbs, but he's not quick and is a bit stocky. As long as we close out under control on three point shots, we should be able to limit their drives and force them to take contested shots over players who are significantly longer than they are used to playing against.

Unlike Penn State, Minnesota, or Northwestern, Davidson does not play physical in your face defense that bothers us. They're going to play off us, let us run our stuff, and dare us to shoot. As long as we stay aggressive and don't try to get in a shooting contest with them, we should be able to score 70-80+ easily.

I think it's also important that we go for offensive rebounds yes, but we need to make sure we still get back quickly to stop their transition game.

We either win by double digits, or we end up on the wrong side of a one shinning moment highlight.

That article is horrible. Our guards are the worst part of our team and they suggest putting more of them out there? They compare Davidson to ISU and Wisconsin, 2 teams that can beat you both inside and out, when they can only beat you outside. If i was Fran, my goal would be to take away the 3 as much as possible. Force a team that's much smaller than you to beat you in the lane.

I think this is just a bad matchup for both teams. Be honest, who couldn't envision Davidson coming out and hitting 5 threes in a row to start off the game and then Iowa struggling to come back all day as they try to adjust? I could easily see that happening since....I'm a Hawkeye basketball fan.

In a long, drawn-out slugfest the advantage is all Iowa's. But in short little spurts Davidson can light up a scoreboard in a hurry.

Guess we'll just have to agree to disagree. Athletic guys can create their shots. Iowa scores with ball movement, player movement, and good passing. Very rarely do you see guys creating on their own.

Agree and teams that decide to play hard on the defensive side give Iowa just enough problems often to not get off the clean looks they need. I don't see Davidson with that notoriety on D but we still need to hit our clean open shots or we can be victims.........20-1 when scoring 64 or more.
