Give ISU some credit for once

this one hurts, not because they lost, but how they lost.

To get beat on the road by a better team doesn't hurt.

To know that you are clearly the better team and have a lopsided officiated game and then pi$$ it away at the end hurts bad.

Disagree. We are the better team. We lead the entire game and it took 4 missed free bees down the stretch for them to beat us at home and home is a huge advantage for ISU.

LMAO that same argument could be made for your Hawks. ISU missed 13 free throws! If they make 1/4 of those there is no argument. Yet you want to try to boil this loss for Iowa down to missing 4 late FTs? LOL, that is just stupid. Just admit that you got outplayed late. Both teams will be factors in March. Don't be an an *** about losing to your in-state rival.

Put these teams on a neutral court and who's favored?

I can see how it can seems that I'm talking with my black and gold glasses but look at last year for example, we beat the clones at carver, but weren't the better team and probably wouldn't have been favored on a neutral court.

And Hilton is probably a much bigger home court advantage.

So anyways, my opinion holds, the hawks are a slightly better team this year.

I didn't storm any court. I was home on my sofa in Minneapolis.

Yeah, I thought that was pretty stupid. But college kids are college kids.

Just cause you didn't make it into FarmU, doesn't mean you should bash on the hicks that did.

Not sure how this is disagreeing.

I can't sleep. This sucks.

Outplayed? Please, how is Iowa missing FT, ISU outplaying anyone? That is simply pizzing it down your leg, not ISU ourplaying anyone.

ISU outplayed Iowa by fouling an 80% FT shooter in the closing minute, then giving up a wide open look to tie the game to a 45% 3pt shooter.

Or, wait.

I did, we missed key free throws and you won. Congrats, how did that court rush feel?

Meanwhile, ISU was missing free throws all night, until it counted. Then they made them and won. So both teams missed free throws, but they didn't miss them when they counted.

What a bunch of whiners some of you are.

We had to play Darius Stokes in a game that mattered and even he picked up a foul trying to give a free layup to Niang, by just standing straight up. that is all.

Brighter days are to come. Go Hawks.

Agree here. I am just shocked Gessel missed those free throws. This game was everything it was made out to be. Crazy stuff.
Best of luck to the hawks the rest of the season.

Chalk it up to Friday the 13th next time MG will knock them down I have total confidence.

Clearly the better team? You said the same thing the last 2 years when we were dancing and you weren't.

Iowa gave a great effort tonight, but you people are pathetic.

The only thing that is pathetic is the "hilton majoic, my butt more like Hilton screw job"

I expected to lose no matter how good we are as a team. I just did not know in which fashion it was going to happen. I also expected a sizable foul/free-throw differential that would have to be overcome.

What I did not expect was to be in control of this ball game on their home floor for all but 2 minutes and 53 seconds. I heard a ton of pre-game chatter about how they would dominate us because they are a far superior program with better athletes and everything. This is possibly their best team under Hoiberg.

They proved they are a good and gritty team. We proved a lot in my opinion including domination on the backboards, transition game that is good despite 'supposed less athleticism' and we can get some things done in the half-court game. We also proved that we still struggle to close out a ball game in our control and that our outside shooting is spotty.

Wait, so this year the end score is all that matters, but last year it was irrelevant?

Exactly. And apparently we all thought the Iowa team that went 18-17, gave up 200 points to Oregon in the NIT, and lost to ISU was better than the ISU team with a 9 seed in the tournament. No wait, that was just cyclone revisionist history talking.

Ok, yeah, they persevered and won. Thanks to Iowa unable to hit free throws.

Congrats clowns!

I could not agree more.

I hope you read this today and realize how big of a baby you were being.

The loss last night was not that big of a deal.

The worst part about the whole thing is Iowa doesnt play again until the 22nd so we have to wait 8 more days to get this taste out of our mouths. Will be 11-2 heading into conference with no bad losses. Iowa is sitting pretty.

The difference is that ISU's FT% was very close to their season average (remember, they shot 15 more than Iowa). As for the ISU fans saying that they didn't play well, Not playing well is certainly not shooting nearly exactly what they have all season long on FGs, 3-pointers, and FTs against much worse teams than Iowa.

Come on, I was not the only one venting last night. But I am sober, more calm, but I do not feel any better about this loss and how they lost it. These are the type of games Iowa needs to learn how to win and so far this season they are 0-2. They will have another chance in a couple of weeks as Wisconsin will be a similar atmosphere.

Congratulations to a good ISU team. They deserved the win. Iowa will not win many Big Ten games if it doesn't play tough from beginnig to the end of the game. If they continue to choke in close games they will end up in the middle of the Big Ten pack. They must keep the heat on their opponant in those closing moments.

I agree with what you are saying but 0-2 does not give credit to closing out Xavier which in all honesty we had no business winning and Notre Dame which was tight down the stretch. A couple of FT misses or turnovers and we lose that one. Nova was almost a karma game considering how we stole the Xavier one. I would say we are 2-2 to date with many more to come.

I think MG missing those two free throws is indicative of what Mad Fran's angry style of coaching does. Kids are afraid to make mistakes and they end up making mistakes because of it.
