Gil Brandt's Top 5 Senior QBs

Wisconsin was not Stanley's fault. Not even close. Badgers stuffed it down our throats in 4th quarter. Defense folded when we needed them to stop. We had the lead in the 4th quarter, but yeah it is all Stanley's fault, just like every Patriot loss is on Tom Brady because the offense didn't score enough.

Agreed. The defense was physically dominated by the Badgers OL all night. It was so bad that a bad QB was able to whatever he wanted against Iowa's DBs.

Where in my post did I say it was all Stanley's fault. I said the fumbles hurt us, but we had big 3rd downs in the third and fourth quarter where he had guys open and didn't hit them. Those are the big moments where Nate has to be better...and it can change the game. We go up two scores and they likely have to start trying to throw it downfield and thats where Hornibrooke is average.

We got outcoached on defense a bit and were slow to respond to the fact that they had 6-7 linemen in the game several times...we didn't go heavy quickly enough. I never blamed Stanley for that loss...it was pointing out moments he has to be better. Penn State...well...that's a different matter in regard to his performance.

C'mon dude go back and re-read your entire post. It was all about Stanley not stepping up. Nowhere about how we had leads in both games and lost said leads cause the other team scored on us.

Just reread it. I'm not sure what you are talking about. You realize this thread is about Stanley right? Pull the exact wording in the post that says the Wisconsin game was all on Nate's performance. I just said he had big third downs where he missed throws...and those are moments that change close games.

Now...I also find it hard to blame the defense for Wisconsin. We gifted them one TD due to the fumble on the punt inside our 10 yard line. When you take out the "sell out TD" at the end, they scored 14 points and our defense overcame poor field position several times. Our offense didn't do enough.

Stanley plays nervous under pressure of a rush and when it is a big game.

Yeah, him and Jake Bentley look like clones in that regard. They have each had one monster game against a good team, with Stanley going for 5 TDs against OSU back in 2017 and Bentley throwing 5 TDs and over 500 yards against an amazing Clemson defense in a losing effort. So you see stuff like that and you're like "my gawd, this guy is amazing" and then you have a bunch of inexplicable mediocre games against decent, but not great teams.

Helps when the team can actually rush the football. Pretty good against Miss State I would say when we had 0 rush game.

Similar to the military where some are just cool and calm under chaos, destruction and death, while others aren't. It is tough to learn, more closely connected to the DNA.

KF has not shown that calmness under pressure for the most part. His anxiousness and confusion rubs off on the QB too often, IMHO.

In a rare example of optimism,
I'm starting to think Stanley will be at least above-average this season.
I can get on board w this. He has the tools let’s see if the yips go away as we will need every bit of the good NS with the schedule
