Ghost Encounters Thread

Feel free to scoff (as I'm sure it's coming)...but here goes.

When my daughter was about 3, she woke up around 6:00am crying and screaming. Unusual for her as she was a sound sleeper by that point. I went in, got her settled down and brought her back to bed with us.

The phone rings about 30 minutes later and it's my Mom. She says "We just lost your Dad". (He'd been struggling with some health issues and it was a shock, but not a complete surprise). Asking her to tell me what happened...she explained how he got up, struggling to breathe and just passed. She went on to tell me it had just happened...about 6:00.

Over breakfast, I said something to my daughter about her waking up crying. Her response...there was a man in my room, but he went away. To this day, I've wondered if Dad stopped by to see her one last time.

It seems to be pretty common to experience odd things when a loved one passes; lights flickering, weird noises, etc. IMO, there are definitely more dimensions than we understand...

Wowza. That sent a chill up my back.

I have been working in healthcare for 30 years. The first 15 of those years were either full time or part time (extra money and I love the elderly) working in the nursing home industry. I cannot count how many people I have been with when they have passed away ( I'm guessing well over 100) The only time I have ever had an experience that was a bit strange was recently when my sister was dying. Her funeral requests were that she wore a white sport coat with a pink carnation. As we unhooked her from the ventilator the Marty Robbins song "white sport coat and pink Carnation" came on playing in a video on the TV in her hospital room.

Read Amityville Horror...woke up at 3:15 am for about 3 weeks solid after that.....in the book all the weird stuff always happened then....

Think I saw a ghost during the Iowa/Minny football game. I don't know why, but the ghost was chasing one of our running backs. However, the ghost followed right into the brick wall for a 3 yard loss. The ghost was never seen again.

About 7 years ago I watched "The Exorcism of Emily Rose." That night I woke up and looked at the clock and it literally was 3:00. The brain is interesting.

You start the best threads in this place by far, man.

It’s nice to get pulled out of the cesspool once in a while.

Well thanks. I don't like to get off topic all too often but on a special day or occasion I don't see the harm. Often times, people have interesting stories or experiences. This kind of stuff intrigues me. Correct, sometimes good to have a thread to get away from the others.

I didn't have this experience but a kid from my high school did. He was a very modest kid and I don't think he would lie or make anything up. He or his siblings just weren't that type. Very honest & quiet. His family grew up in an old two story ex-nursing home in our town. The building/home had a lot of character with huge like balcony windows in the upstairs windows.

We were at lunch one day and another kid mentioned the situation which I wasn't quite sure it was. The kid didn't want to say anything or tell because I'm sure he thought I would think he was lying or crazy. Anyway, I think he got sick of the egging on and finally told me. He said he had a bedroom in the upstairs. There were occasions when he would get woken up in the middle of the night and when he looked over would see an old woman in front of the window just rocking in a chair and staring out the window.

I mean you have to know this family and the kids. Well respected and they just wouldn't make it up, IMO.

Years ago my mom passed away from cancer. We had her at home during the final days with Hospice. Surrounded by her family we watched her take her final few breaths early morning (which is creepy in itself because there were long pauses in between) That night after I went to bed I woke in my old bedroom up stairs to a loud sound. There was a banging on the basement door, like someone was knocking on it. I was frozen with fear and just pulled the covers over my head. I was to chicken shiat to get up and go look. It didn't last long, but enough to wake me up and scare me. The next day I asked my family members if they heard it and they said no. I know what I heard that night, and I think it was my mothers spirit somehow doing the knocking.

have any of you tried a ouija board before? I will never, those things freak me out and a friend of mine told me once that he and his college buddies tried one. My friend said one the people in their group became possessed. He said once his friend was taken over, it was asking where he was and what the date and year was. My friend was dead serious and said it was beyond terrifying.

I have not seen any ghost nor do I believe in them, but I do see horrific scenes every time the Hawkeyes offense steps out onto the field and it does give nightmares
