Good god, how did these two make it to an NCAA D1 power conference? This is about as bad a 1-2 punch at the PG position as there is in any power conference. It's bad enough we have two "centers" who can't convert layups on a consistent basis. I don't think we have much of a shot come tourney time fellas.
 
Maybe we should get our 4* recruits from IL, MI, etc. rather than from the Sioux City metro area.

I know, I'm posting because I'm ticked off from the game, but I'm starting to think these guys were overrated in HS. Not all 4* recruits are created equal (playing different levels of competition, etc.) IMO.
 
I give recruits from the state of Iowa a one star reduction because they just aren't playing good competition. In Mike's and Adam's case, I would have reduced them by 2...I think that's about right.
 
Where's all the boot lickers to tell us about how much Sapp has improved and what a steady influence he provides for the second unit?

I have called AC one of the worst guards to ever wear an Iowa uniform several times this year and today is why.

How you can be 75% into your career and have played as much as him and have that kind of a stat line is unfathomable.

White & Utoff didn't shoot very well, but everybody else was five for thirty. FIVE FOR FREAKIN' THIRTY!
 
I texted my son at halftime that clemmons and gesell had about 10 really bad bad turnovers, clemmons some really bad ones. even if we only score 8 points on the 10 times down the floor the hawks have a 16 point halftime lead.

Then Woody and Gabe couldnt make a damn thing in the second half

Mike G had 5 assists and 2 turnovers. Might want to get your eyes checked.

I said together they had about 10 not that Mike had 10, Clemmons was really bad in the first half especially .

But Gesell threw one off the backboard a mile from his target and got yanked immediately. And he threw another bad pass and I think the official scorer was kind only giving him 2 turnovers.

And before you give me **** I have been boasting on Gesell since non conf his freshman year.

Here's what we know: when the guards have "C to B-" games the Hawks have a good chance of winning.

"B to A" games the Hawks can dominate.

If less-than-avg then "suuuuuck iiiiit".


It doesn't matter the quality of the opponent's guards for Iowa's guards to have an average game
They do not have to score a lot (17-20 pts between the 4 of them is sufficient). Just be a threat/successful on a limited number of shots, play good defense, and don't turn it over.

Oh for three today.

You forgot to mention JO as part of the guard group. The worst scoring/shooting guard combo for a team with their record I have ever seen!

White + Uthoff + prayers for a someone else to step up is their only chance.
 
How does gesell get the crap end here? Clemmons, I get it. Woodbury, I get it. Jok, I get it. But gesell didn't play bad. Did he play great, no. But I saw only three players look decent to good...gesell and Uthoff and white. Then you had bad games...olaseni, Ogelsby. And terrible games...Woody, clemmons, jok.
 
Chill. This game meant nothing but seeding, which means nothing until a couple games in. All that matters is the match up and the guys showing up. Would love a run, but getting more than one or two regardless of seeding is and has always been a stretch. We're not there yet. This isn't news.

Calling me a "zero" is rich coming from an anonymous poster that clearly knows nothing about basketball. 39%/37%/76% and one of the best on the ball defenders on the team. Clearly Fran should pull his scholly and give it to hawkeye4life68.

Actually, you are well below a zero but I was trying to be kind. While you are pimping AC why don't you tell us the number of Power5 teams he would get minutes for? That would be......ZERO.
